Audi Leads Industry With Three Models Named "Top Safety Pick" By Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

Audi sets the benchmark by being the only manufacturer to have three model lines awarded the "Top Safety Pick" rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The A3, A4, and A6 models all received this honor by their performance in both front-offset and side-impact crash tests.

Previously, the A3, A4, and A6 were each named a "Double Best Pick" by the IIHS for front and side crash protection. Audi was the only manufacturer to have three vehicles with that ranking as well. Now that the IIHS has adopted the new ranking structure with the "Top Safety Pick", Audi has once again set the bar.

The Institute names the A6 a "Top Safety Pick" in the large cars class, while the A3 and A4 took honors in the midsize car category. All Audi vehicles, not just the models used in these tests, are a testament to safety engineering. Every Audi available in the U.S. comes standard with dual front and front side airbags, side curtain airbags (except TT models and A4/S4 Cabriolet), anti-lock brakes, electronic stability program, LATCH anchoring system, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers. Audi's legendary quattro® all-wheel drive is yet another safety feature. By delivering the power to the ground at all four corners, the driver has better control of the vehicle regardless of the environmental conditions.

Audi of America is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and markets performance-oriented European luxury vehicles: the A3, A4, A6, A8 L, and TT. The all-new Q7, from the creator of quattro, arrives at dealerships in mid-2006.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
