A1/S1 Official: Audi A1


The Audi A1 is a luxury supermini car launched by Audi at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the initial three-door A1 model started in Germany in August 2010, with the United Kingdom following in November 2010.

Hmm, the exterior is as expected. Like every other Audi.

As for the interior it's a mess. The Polo feels looks more upscale inside, while the A1 looks like it tries to be premium and funky at the same time. It's like it tries to be Mini with the round air vents and that lower part of the dash.
 
Exterior is definitely radical but acceptable, the interior on the other hand is in a league of its own! This car should set standards for build quality in the segment it enters, by the way which segment does it compete in? Polo/Fiesta rival or more Golf/Focus etc? Prices, performance?
 
As mentioned before it looks like an Audi which is nothing special. Interior has potential but way too much black on dashboard for a supposedly funky car.
 
It looks fresher to me than the usual Audi, and the contrasted roof is a nice touch. Overall I really dig the design.

Interior's not really fun, a bit too serious and dark, maybe some colours and trims will be available to lighten it up a bit.

Nice car.
 
The car would have been so much funkier and catchy if it retained the concept's bumpers.

Mini, Suzuki Swift, Citroën DS3 are the main competitors. So size of the Polo, price approaching that of a Golf.

I love it too, looks very cute and in your face at the same time. Finally a new design headlights from Audi again. It improves the font radically. Should have done something like this on the new A8 too!

As for the interior....well....if the plastic is not hard everywhere it could be class leading indeed. Just highly boring compared to a Mini...

Huh? Suzuki Swift? Nah! More like Alfa Mito, Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper :cool:

Bare in mind that the iar vents can be had in different colours and the same applies to the leather. Audi just chose to present the car in a rather masculine scheme. Wait for more press photos of the interior in more colourful combinations that will hopefully make your earlobes tingle of joy and amazement. :D
 
So, new front headlights and hexagonal grill make an Audi radical ? wow they set the bar too low :D

I am not sure I like it. Mini/F500/MiTo over this. As some said, its not funky enough.
 
compared to the last 5 or so audi's it's a bit more interesting on the outside, barely...just a trifle, but it definitely doesn't move any game or reposition any bar.
 
Exterior is predictable. Both A1 concept cars showcased everything. Extra customization only via 4 available contrast colors for the roof arch (silver, black, white and ... red or gold?)

Interior looks upscale with all the optional features. Quite boring. Some nice chrome detailing though. I hope MINI gets real alu detailing with LCI instead of the silver-painted plastic. :D

Is the interior customization limited only to upholstery color, interior color & different colors for the air vent housings? No additional trim of any kind in the cabin? :t-hands: Wood? Alu? Not very premium ... :eusa_thin



I wonder how it drives. MINI still trashes F500 & MiTo with its go-kart like handling & steering. Yet it lacks more competitive engines ... Latest Multi Air engines by Fiat are good. And I'm sure A1 is coming with latest VAG engines.
