2030 Mercedes-Benz S-Class W224. What we know so far:
Projected to arrive in 2030, following the
recent mid-cycle facelift for the current model.
The future concept
Vision Iconic two-door coupe is expected to influence the W224's design as multiple reports online state. So, it may end up featuring that massive "Iconic Grille" and narrow headlights. Multiple online AI generated images are portraying the next S-Class as the sedan version of this concept, or one with slight variations following the same design trends.
AI searches online state from different sources that: "it is anticipated to use an evolution of the MRA II platform and feature an electrified engine range, including mild hybrids and plug-in hybrids".
So both internal combustion (ICE) and battery-electric (EV) versions under a single, unified S-Class nameplate is expected.
Here's the hint: Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius confirmed that the separate "EQS" branding for its electric flagship will be phased out. The future lineup will consist of:
- One Body Style: Both the gas-powered and electric versions will share nearly identical exterior and interior designs, moving away from the distinctive "jelly bean" look of the current EQS.
- Two Different Platforms: To avoid compromising interior space or performance, the two variants will ride on different underpinnings:
- ICE/Hybrid models: Will use an evolution of the current MRA II platform.
- Electric models: Will sit on a dedicated, high-tech EV architecture, likely the MB.EA Large platform.
Plans may change a bit, but this is where it stands as of 2026.
