| When are we finally going to see the big fat M5-only grille, Scott? And M5 side gills AND those turn indicator looks hella ugly. The turn indicator on the side has to go asap. VAG fanboy. But it's ok, it's good to have them here as well. VAG fanboys scare the hell out of me though, so I'll keep my distance

The RS5 debate was debating whether it had dropped enough revs to be classed as 'bogging down', I didn't disagree that it wasn't a bad launch and nor am I saying that BMW won't get these traction issues under control. Again I find it comical that all you guys jump at my negative comments yet ignore everyone else's and also never remark when I post something positive. One could almost question who is the fanboy in this discussion. Considering how far away it is I would reckon he is looking input from the group as to whether this PS is appealing.

| I'll try to give you my opinion on this, as objective as possible. Yet, you should know that I am definitelly not in the target group of the new M5. More a potential 320i customer. (PS. I was just about to buy an E46 320i, but the dealer was awfull against me, and I had the money for the car with me. 35.000€ in my suitcase, and they sent me to the Volvo dealer, just across the street. Much more friendly than your dealer. But that's not the topic. So anyway.) So, back to this photo. In my opinion it looks like the regular 5er with the X5/6M bumper, which while it's nice, it's too shouty for my taste. The car screams raw power, but it is not in line with the whole desing of the car, which is rather on the safe side. A more conservative M bumpers pack would be much better when added to the rather understated, toned down 5er (compared with the E60 of course).

| As long as there will never, ever, be an instance of spinning the inner wheel - it will do fine LSD:s shall stay mechanical until the electronic dito's are as good as the aforementioned. That will never happen.

| OK, I'll give my two pence worth to this Blue M5 PS. It's nice but like everyone else has said the side ducts are way too big for the elegant design that is the F10. Also I hope they don't do anything too pronounced on the bonnet, a huge bulge would be awful. But I have faith that BMW will judge things right for this car if past history is anything to go by. As for the debate between mechanical and electronic, well I think the world of possibilities that will come by using the latter would make a world of difference in the M5, especially now that not only the power is boosted but the torque hugely so. But then what do I know.

| As to the diff used, we've seen several spy videos of the M5 already and this was the first one with the inner rear tire spinning. IMO, there are several possible explanations to this: 1) BMW's testing different rear diffs (and this run was done with an usual, open diff). 2) BMW's testing different settings of the same diff (read DPC). 3) This particular run was driven very hard, harder than every other run caught on video before (i.e. they're using an regular, open diff). 4) It's not the diff to blame for the spinning tire, but a e-boost system mounted at the rear axle (after the diff). It's everybody's guess which of these possible explanations is actually the reason for this, I tend to go with No. 2). If the rumors of the M5 getting DPC are true, this result makes perfectly sense. DPC only acts like a real LSD if the software tells it to. Best regards, south |

| Is it possible that the F10 M5 comes with a fake (electronic) LSD instead of a good old school mechanical one?

| Pardon my ignorance, but the DPC is an electronically controlled mechanical limited slip differential, right? So, this is supposed to be "better" than a pure mechanical LSD?

My reckoning is a tour de force of technologies in this car. P.S. Not so sure that we are seeing the KERS system in this video. Unless that system is powering the front axle as with the GT3 Hybrid I still question the logic of such a setup on the rear axle in what is effectively a luxury/sports saloon designed almost exclusively for fat middle aged bankers with little true driving skill.
