OK, ..OK... all biased aside, all hype aside and all favouritism and whatever aside..... Honestly, I like the 7er more, and very suprising to me in those pics is how
instantly appealing the 7er is over the S.
I know that is not the best looking S-class, especially with those boring wheels, so it's not a totally fair comparison...but it's the frontal styling which really made the difference for me.
The S-class seems too busy up front (compared to the 7er that is). On it's own, the S-class looks wonderful, ..but when put side by side with the 7er, you can really see what a fine job BMW did with their facelift. A smoother, softer and more pleasant look for the 7er really creates a favourable image for the car, ...while for the S, in those pictures, the expression on the car seems to be trying too hard to look happy.
Look at the final picture there and you can see what I mean. The 7er looks all laid-back, relaxed and confident, ..while the S-class looks like a keen and ready to run Golden Retriever (i'm not suggesting the car is a dog).
...and I've never really got used to the wheel arches of the S-class...and these pictures just make it worse.
..and finally... in terms of wheel design. Well, in that last picture there, ...the two different wheel designs on the 7er's are simply the best wheels for the 7er IMO. It's not fair to comment on the S-class wheels because there are better designs for the new model.
Overall.... I'm suprised to say that I'd take the 7er instantly without a second thought. Outside it looks better (IMO)...inside, they have pretty much the same design and layout, ..and technology-wise, the 7er is certainly not lacking in that department.
