Volvo not in Frankfurt

Volvo is not going to attend the IAA this year. Volvo said, it's restricting to Geneva, Detroit and China.
The new concept will be organising events at special places, like the introduction of XC90 in Stockholm last year.

This must be because the S90 is not ready and the only contemporary model in their range is the XC90. I think they'll be back at Frankfurt next year.

According to Scandicsteel the S90 is coming this fall. if so, Volvo could also introduce it at the IAA. I think it's a money thing ->it's very expensive to attend such a show. Therefore not too many of them.
BTW, the IAA is every 2 years.

That's a shame. I like Volvos. I've just been driving around California in an XC60, and I was looking forward to looking at a few other models at the IAA.

Seems like a bad decision. With sales on the upswing, why not attend more shows and promote your products even more? Detroit? NO, NYC and LA should be where they focus in the U.S. unless they plan on some type of big debut in Detroit.

Because IAA would cost them like 5 million a day. Money better spent elsewhere for smaller companies, and rightfully so when you only have one car that's not been on the road for years and years..

If I speak in black-and-white terms, the music does not play in Germany or Japan anymore. That's why manufacturers have shifted their presence to Shanghai and New York. Volvo is just consequential in that respect...

Frankfurt is the biggest car show of Europe, not sure what you mean? Volvo probably sells most of its cars in Europe too.
They just have too little to show to warrant the huge investments. Only the XC90 as previously said, and even that car isn't new anymore, as it already drives around and has been to many shows.

XC90 is a success!

Volvo said today it has received 57,000 orders for its new XC90, which went on sale in Europe in June and in the U.S. last month.

Volvo is still far less profitable than premium rivals. Its profit margin on its 232,284 vehicle sales was 2.2 percent in the first half, while luxury-car market leader BMW posted an 8.9 percent margin on 1.1 million deliveries.

Introduction of new models using the same platform as XC90 will further increase profit margin. And hopefully, sales.

Looking forward to the S90 - the XC90 shifted the balance in the SUV segment and if the S90 can do the same we have a new golden age for Volvo.
