The supreme display of wealth.

What's more mighty than shipping your brand new RR shipped to a country localed in a different continent?

The colour combo is pretty horrid but the owner can most likely have is repainted as easily as he got i sent to London, and then back to the Middle East.

Man, that Rolls looks tacky -- who would ever have thought someone so wealthy would be so damn poverty-stricken when it comes to having a sense of style.

Another proof that any amount of money cannot buy good taste. I wonder how much money the owner had to pay the workers to apply this horrid colour scheme and ruin such an elegant car. Surely any passionate RR worker will refuse to do this to any of the cars in the factory.

lol I know the guy and he is one of the royal family of Ajman. One of the 7 emirates in UAE. We happen to come from the same family or tribe. lol Anyhooo he is known for loving this combination, the black/orange veyron, Bentley GT & FS. and many others ... awful color

^^So Maserati, how well do you know this guy? ......well enough for him to let you drive it ;) :D

Exactly.

That's the well known problem with nouveau riche: too much money, no taste. :eusa_doh:

In the past traditional elites were guardians & protagonists of a good taste, today nouveau riche elites barely have any taste. :t-crazy2: These people are definitely not socialized in a right manner - having no cultural capital, only material one. And such discrepancy between these two capitals is never a good thing.

Well said mate :usa7uh: This problem is getting worse and worse and I don't think there will be a way to stop this unless there is a massive global economic recession, but that won't be good for anyone.

Horrendous color scheme

It may look good on a Veyron, but I think the RR employees had tears in their eyes while applying the orange paint :D

Car is pretty tacky as ROB said, but still pretty cool.... VERY UNIQUE.

Rob: I don't know him personally but he is known here. As I told u, we happen to come from the same family and thats it. He is a sheikh and am a regular guy :D so no chance to drive his car

Hmmm, I'm not so sure about that EnI. I would argue the whole concept of "good taste" is predominantly a middle class concern. In the past, the elites bought tasteful things because they were the only ones who could afford them -- those things were more a testament to the refined sense of taste of the artisans who made them more often than the aristocrats who bought them.

Also, with regards to the Rolls-Royce Luwalira posted, it is owned by an Arab sheikh (as Maserati has informed us), there is a different culture here as well -- besides, at this social level, are issues of good and bad taste really an issue? ......I mean, in many ways nearly all Rolls-Royces could be seen as quite kitsch.

I don't think this is a case of bad taste but more of a "show off" thing. As you all know S500s, 911 Turbos and similar cars aren't exactly rare in the major cities in UAE and buying a nice black bimmer and putting a set of killer rims on it isn't enough to turn head. That makes people take extreme measures to make their cars stand out in the crowd.

Daymn, the owner was rocking some hard-core shit, while selecting the color combo, he messed the beauty up :eusa_doh:...!

What a way you have with words Rob. Poverty stricken when it comes to taste? Classic, I must remember to use that in a conversation soon. :D

^^Ha, funny .........I often find it quite difficult to express my opinions clearly in words -- personally, I think Josh (Osnabrueck) is the most gifted writer on this forum -- I wish I had his talent with words.

Maybe the owner was a cab(taxi) driver in Toronto(the same color combo they use for a cab company) and hit the jackpot, got all the money and bought RR and painted it so as to feel at home.
