I think the A5 will surprise a lot of people just like the R8 did! I think it will be superior to BMW and MB with Audi's new chassis design strategy, top in its segment class and sell more than expected from Audi.

The A5 is a VERY important model for Audi:

1- It's the first model to feature the new MLP architecture , the comparison tests will show if Audi will be able to beat BMW in driving dynamics as the TT and A8 have done and in a lesser extend the A3/S3.


LOL, you're saying TT beats Z4 in driving dynamics? And A3 1-er?

Audi TT has beaten not only Z4 but also Porsche Cayman in several tests.

For example:

The Porsche Cayman lands at the last place - it is much too expensive. Before it that ranks driving dynamically somewhat disappointing BMW Z4 Coupé. Winner becomes the balanced however not completely so emotion-filled AUDI TT.

Surely the new A5 will be a nice coupe', but the main question will be, what will it weigh.
I personally think it will be 1500+ Kg for the 2.0T, 1600+ for the 2.8 V6 fwd, 1700+ Kg for the 3.2 V6 Quattro and 1800+ Kg for the S5/4.2 V8 Quattro .
The RS5 will most likely weigh 1900+ Kg if it's get the 5.2 V10 engine.

I had seen the real weight of a B7 A4 2.0 TFSI quattro (from the factory production data sheet that's in the trunk in all Audis) and it was 1569 kgr so you are probably right.
 
I'm sure the A5 will have a hybrid aluminum/steel chassis, much like the TT. If they could employ that sort of tech on their entry level coupe, then they'd surely do the same for their more upmarket offering.
 
The A5 will be a mightily important car for audi, in the UK atleast. Every man and his dog has a 3 series, and half of them if not more are coupes. Audi never had a coupe to compete against it and now they do. I think the A5 will steal a ton of BMW customers, as the brand is now becoming a bit of a victim of its success, even people on government benefits drive BMW's, and thats something the hardworking people of Britain do not like at all. They dont like the fact that they work their socks off to get such a car, only for some drug dealer, or some man on benefits is driving about in the same car a year or two later. Audi doesnt have that image problem as of yet as its the brand of conservatives. The RS4 is majorly desired by youngsters though, like the E46 M3 was at one point, so we will see. Perhaps the scum will now go after audi's too once these new models are released.

Yeah, I don't. I am not going to look up all the reviews I have read where the Z4 is better in this segment in particular. There are quite a few, and the one I remember most vividly is the Top Gear one :usa7uh:

Audi A5 will be an all around car like TT. BMW might make the well handling sporty cars but at the expense of the comfort which in cars like 130i and Z4 is not as good as the competition. TT might not be as sporty as Z4 but it's sporty enough and more suitable for everyday use.

True. And that's why BMW are coming with a true 2+2 compact-size coupe more suitable for everyday use: E82 1er / 2er cabrio. :D

While Z4 is, as said many times before, Daddy's weekend toy, and not a commuting device. And that was the main intention. To make a raw joy-toy for aficionados.
 
Based on this birth eye view i can't say much about the car if i will like it or not.
I have to see the front, the back and the overall looks to give a opinion about it.

I'm trying to, but he also like the A6 Avant very much.. (cause he want the space)

But I told him, A6 are getting a facelift - don't buy yet..
His girlfriend want's a TT - So I told them that the A5 is a bigg Audi TT :D
& that it's enough space but still very sporty!

I'm sure when this car is on the road he will be 98% then when the dealer has one, we are testing it for real.. He have no choice :cool:

and Last he woun't let his son down :)

But now I just cant wait for the car ... !

I tell you though, I'm excited. I've got to say over the last couple of week my appreciation for Audi has really grown. Always liked the A8, A4 and Q7, but the A6 (& S6) has really grown on me. Can't wait to the final A5! :eusa_danc

One question: I'm sure this already been addressed, but should I assume Audi will also offer a higher performance variant with the A5 (S5?)
