CLK-Class [Spyshots] Mercedes E-Class Coupe & Cabrio - C207 (Spy pics & info) - Formerly CLK Model Line

The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is a series of mid-size or entry-level luxury coupés and convertibles produced by Mercedes-Benz between 1996 and 2010. Although its design and styling was derived from the E-Class, the mechanical underpinnings were based on the smaller C-Class, and was positioned between the Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class and CL-Class.

Just like the E Sedan it slopes downward too much, design looks a mess IMO.

I thought you liked the E-coupe?? Thought you were planning to trade your car in for one.

I do hate the look of the convertible, but the Coupe is a favorite of mine.

The car was spotted on the set for the new Sex and the City Movie.

The convertible doesn't look bad, but the coupe looks way better, they shouldn't have made it a ragtop.

Nope, really can't stand it actually. The design is just off. The only thing is that I haven't seen the E550 Coupe in person with the AMG wear/wheels etc. That is this design's only chance otherwise its a wrap for me with the entire E-Class lineup until 2016.

Maybe, just maybe the E550 Cabriolet will be the one that looks best, we'll see.

Uh Oh...Sorry to hear that. I liked the E-coupe from day one. The aggressive front is on point. Rear lights could have been better, but not bad. The interior is remarkable.

I have seen one in person, but good enough to get a real good look. The E-class on the other hand is flooding the streets and the more I see it the more I like it.

I still have an issue with it's boxyness, but as long as it isn't put on the next S-class, I will be happy.

roof down imo the car looks really good just as good as the 3er and A5 convertibles
but roof up disappointing desperately needed a metal roof!

Yeah I'd said all along the E550 convertible may be the one, in the U.S. it will wear standard AMG kit and bigger wheels. The above shots look really good. This and the new CLS should being some much needed style (and buyers) into Mercedes showrooms.

That said, what I don't like about the sedan, coupe and now the cabrio is that ill-placed, sloping piece of chrome down the side on the doors running to the rear panel. It makes the car look like its crouching down, but not in a good way.

Looks definitely fabulous in black. And it needs the double exhaust, AMG package and 18' rims.

The previous Mercedes-Benz CLK is something of an enigma--built around the C-Class platform, styled like the E-Class, and priced in between the two, the car sits in its own unique segment and has no direct competition from its rivals. Its sales history has been a strong success, especially in the U.S., but the car is set to meet its demise with the arrival of the new E-Class Coupe and the Cabrio in the middle of next year.

Previous spy shots show a prototype for the Cabrio model testing at Germany's Nurburgring, and as expected it draws heavily from the recent ConceptFASCINATION. The car will be about 4-inches longer than the CLK Cabrio that it replaces and it sticks with a traditional folding soft top. These leaked patent designs that were filed with the EU trademark office reveals how it will look when it makes its debut next year.

The engine lineup should mirror the Coupe, which means four, six and eight-cylinder units with outputs from 200 to 382 horsepower--the top end model being the E550.

The decision to move the CLK to the E-Class platform will allow Mercedes to introduce a new entry-level coupe and convertible based on the C-Class, finally providing the automaker with a direct competitor to BMW’s popular 3-series two-door models. You can see a preview of such a car in our previous story by clicking here.

The story doesn’t end there, however, as Mercedes is also expected to launch a new ‘shooting brake’ model based on the ConceptFASCINATION, although no official details about its release have been mentioned.
