The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is a series of mid-size or entry-level luxury coupés and convertibles produced by Mercedes-Benz between 1996 and 2010. Although its design and styling was derived from the E-Class, the mechanical underpinnings were based on the smaller C-Class, and was positioned between the Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class and CL-Class.

We all know that the lower end lineup is due major refresh in 3 years. The A and B class will be shuffled around incorporating a proper hatchback and a mini SUV, and the CLC as it looks today is just a pit-stop.
My theory is that MB will transform the CLC into the "new CLK" competing against the E92 and A5. I suspect it will come in 2-3 year around the same period as the C-Class facelift. This is probably the reason why MB didn't drop the price of the car even though it uses components from the W203. What I think is that the new CLC will in size be something between 1er coupe and the E92.

Look amazing
I would defiantly take one of these over an A5 or 3-series but then again I'm guessing the CLE will be much more than a A5 or 3-er

Well the CLK has always been a e-class coupe IMO anyway so it really won't matter. Looks nice though.

Honestly I don't want MB to cut back on nameplates. The in-between models are nice 'cause they can battle up or downhill. Plus I think MB has the smartest naming system in the industry, even BMW or Audi are playing catch-up here, not to mention the wannabes of CTS, RL TL blah blah.
OK, so here is just speculation (and wishes.) MB will rename the next C-based E-styled coupe the CLE, and its convertible version will be CLK. See my diagram? They'd fit perfectly into the line. I think MB will make future CLC's as A-based and C-styled, and its convertible could be named CLA. I think they might drop the B-Class name and give the platform to the GLA.
SLR and CLR (Ocean Drive) should be their top halo cars. I hope they don't throw away the SLR roadster line since it has its halo. Now the SLR coupe will/should be replaced by the SLS Gullwing coming up.
The roadsters and sports coupe segments would be spread out a bit, price and image wise. I like the Vision SLA, wish MB would introduce it somehow.
The wagons and shooting-brakes would just use the E and C names. I fitted the SUV's and the (sigh) R-Class into the map as well, but it's too much to show here.
