1 Series [Spyshots] BMW 1-Series Sedan

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
In what way?

I used to own previous version and had it almost for 5 years. My parents owned two from the last generation and currently own the latest 1-series. We all have 100% satisfaction.
We also had the 3-series and 5-series from all generations except the latest 5-series and our 1-series isn't worse than those, just smaller.

It was built down to a price, the interior is pretty poor quality, much closer to MINI than BMW standards. They are also loud, lots of road and wind noise, it's a cheap BMW so you get what you pay for, it's not a 3 series by any stretch.

Well, you had to wait for the facelift and then the interior was vastly improved. Wind noise is not something I agree with. And regarding road noise it was pretty much gone when I replaced my runflats for some proper tyres. And reability was good too, in fact better than the 5-series.
And the latest 1-series don't have worse wind noise or worse interior quality than the new 3-series. Let's see what happens when both get facelifted though.

You should not have to wait for the facelift to get the car BMW should have built from the get go.

Are you serious?

It is even better than a 3er in the parts where it matters, which are driving dynamics. Your priorities are so messed up.

Its a common thing amongst most car brand facelifts to do something to the interior, they need to modernize it to keep up with the newer rivals, fix up any build quality issues, change material trim and seat coverings, infotainment systems etc. There weren't alot of complaints about the first generation 1 series interior build quality when it came out, sure it is not built to 3 series levels, because it is built to a cheaper price level and its the same if you compare any other car brand from lower models to upper models. It is a good car to drive better than most rivals due to the RWD chassis allowing more adjustability and neutrality in corners. I didn't find the car noisy when I drove it but then maybe it could be road surface sensitive. Like Klier said its driving dynamics are at least as good as the 3-series, which is no longer a compact car as such, its length is the same as the E12 5-series and width and wheelbase about the same as the E39 5series. Any car over 4.6m long and 1.8m wide is not compact. The latest 2 series coupe is the same size as the E30 3 series, so now that would be considered compact.

What about BMW adding LED tail lights to the E9x LCI then not including these for the F30, the turn and brake lights are halogen, but wait they'll pop up in the LCI, that's taking the piss IMO.

Plz BMW,

build us a FWD 1 series but with LEDs this time. I will accept that.

BMW iDiots.

I wonder when BMW will introduce SWD (Side wheel drive) or CWD (cross wheel drive) to satisfy the niche market.

To get back on topic.
Renders have started to appear of the 1er Sedan.

That render looks good @SCOTT27 this could work for a 1 series sedan, it's size will be closer to E46 3 series I reckon which would make it roughly same size as the A3 sedan. The headlights have new squared off coronas like the recent BMW concepts and mixed with the headlight running into the 3D grill design that debuted in F30 3 series looks really good

Looks great tho it's too far from the real deal... this car has RWD proportions.

Its a render based using the Active Tourer but if you compare the spy shots closely there are similarities such as a short wheelbase , short rear overhang and prolonged (slightly) front which incorporate the BMW arrowhead feature which allows a slight lengthening of the bonnet due to the shape of the front end.
It does look impressive in real life of course the details on the render are wrong. The front end is like the 1er render which is available but with upturned headlights meeting the edges of the kidney grille. It fits well from a design perspective within the next line of BMW sedans.

2016 BMW F52 1 Series Sedan Interior Spied, Looks Like the Active Tourer

It wasn’t too long ago we saw the first spy shots of BMW’s upcoming rival for the Audi A3 Sedan and the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. Today, we’re bringing you another set, this time showing you the first shots of the interior of the new car. It’s looking fresh.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is basically the first car in decades that brought along a new kind of interior design. The main differences compared to its bigger brothers is the fact that instead of featuring a solid column down the middle of the car, it’s showing different look that keeps the HVAC controls well up and above, separated from the gear shift knob.

That’s the biggest difference, separating the controls like that but on the 1 Series Sedan here, the controls for the AC also look rather different, reminding us of the ones used in the i8. Yes, the plug-in hybrid sports car, we didn’t write that wrong. It’s also showing white colors unlike the orange ones we’ve been getting used to.

The passenger side dash also looks a bit different with the trims going down along the center console and then straight towards the air vents on the sides. Other than that, it’s all looking BMW familiar, with the same steering wheel as on the 2 Series Active Tourer and a similar infotainment screen. Even the instrument cluster looks the same not to mention the gearshift knob that seems to be taken straight of the MPV.

Yet another clue that it will also be using the UKL platform

The 1 Series sedan has been the source of plenty of rumors even before the spy shots first came out. BMW needed a competitor in this segment and a front-wheel drive one for that matter. Therefore, as you can already see by the similarities pointed out here, the new sedan will be using the UKL platform as well.

That means we’ll get to see the same B-family plants used here ranging from the 3-cylinder 1.5-liter turbocharged plant from the MINI Cooper model (136 HP) to the 4-cylinder 2-liter one on the 225i Active Tourer with 231 HP.

Hopes are that we’ll get to see an even more powerful engine as well, to rival the CLA45 AMG but recent signs from the M division said that their badge will never be used on a front-wheel drive car. So there’s no M1 Sedan planned for the future. As for an M Performance vehicle, well… that’s a different story.

UKL: Unwanted Killjoy Lineup

Viva the compact rear-wheel drive... Viva! LehLehLehLehLehLehLeh!

I didn't like the Active Tourer interior when I sat in it at Paris. Felt cheaper than the rest of the BMW range. I didn't like the new gear selector either.

I think my day just got ruined.

An 1er sedan with the dimensions of the E46, yet with FWD and an interior that belongs to a van. The 2er AT interior is nowhere near what a BMW badge should come with. I'm very disappointed.

Again, given that the 1er sedan will be FWD, I see absolutely no reason to choose it over an A3 sedan, no matter how brilliant it may look.
