4 Series (F32) [Spyshots] 2014 BMW 4 Series Spy Pics & Info

The first generation of the BMW 4 Series consists of the F32 (coupé version), F33 (convertible version) and F36 (five-door liftback version, marketed as 'Gran Coupé') compact executive cars. The 4 Series was created when BMW spun off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the 3 Series into a separate series. Production: July 2013 – September 2020

Please forgive me as I do not wish to turn this into a BMW vs Audi thread. I would just like to get other members opinion about this. It's about IMO Audi blatantly copying BMWs LED tubes on their tail lights and head lights. My motivation for this is that Audi fans were praising the Christmas tree arrangement and dissing BMW tubes. The shoe is now on the other foot. I kinda have proof that the Audi arrangement are indeed LED tubes. Not looking to start a war, just healthy debate.

I will try my best to be non-bias. I don't care if Audi uses it. BMW has their distinct quad eye look (best look in the world!)
I am glad for Audi-design in going the LED tube way. The individual dotted LED arrangement, especially the new Touareg and LCI Q7 looks hideous with their 5 Cent X-mas tree or Vegas strip dotted LED's. So having their LED tubes in a linear arrangement does not matter at all. I have learned that ALL 3 German OEM's becuase of sharing suppliers do copy tech from each other. That wil never change for the fact as mentioned. If you have a look at a Automotive News supplier base for a specific VAG, BMW AG, M-B product if it was not for the design difference and product specific requirement - there is basically (this may seem over the top, but in supplier context) no difference between them. Even supply chain management collaboration (getting better prices and timed delivery) between Daimler AG and BMW AG support my "theory"

My 0.5 Cent:)

Edit: One Federal Rebublic of Germany. One goal as the EU's largest economy with THE BEST supplier and automotive brands and manufaturers on the planet. Logic that for the sake of Dem Deutsche Volke, they will and shall also have to collaborate. Auto industry is into politics as much as any other thing, even more so after 2008.

Regards you all!

Naas.

It sure is. But if you air that crap on a public forum be prepared for someone to give you their opinion on it.

When you get clever people designing cars there are going to be overlaps in inspiration. Each manufacturer gets ideas from the others. Do you seriously think the World's best designers sit in their studios and just think, "I know, I'll copy that BMW" or "do you think we can get away with copying BMW" and then knock off for an early lunch? Or Mercedes-Benz or Audi? It's their profession. I would imagine they're very proud and want to be unique and make their mark. It just so happens that sometimes an idea of another manufacturer is actually a pretty good one and they go with that. Who was the first manufacturer to put ambient lights in the interior? Possibly BMW? Now every high end car has them. It's a good idea. Does it mean that every manufacturer after the first one shouldn't put ambient lights in the interiors of their cars? Good grief. :banghead:

This is coming from a BMW fan.

Your view is a very naive and childish one, in my opinion.

IMO copying isn´t the problem. Every carmanufacture does this. BUT if you want to be the best you should be the trendsetter not the one who follows and BMW is in the last decade the trendsetter in many area´s. This is the problem I don´t see Audi is overtaking BMW and Mercedes will come back with a big hit in the buisness.

IMO the real problem is that the 4 Series will not have LED blinkers and LED brakes before facelift, and it will not have B&O soundsystem.

that is a problem, ii would put me off if i was a potential buyer tbh

Seriously? An audio system/a set of leds are that important to you?

It's funny. A few months ago I wanted to buy a Christmas tree and a hi-fi but neither had an engine and a well sorted chassis attached, so I rejected them.

B&O is rubbish. Trust me on this, I am an audiophile and I can dare anyone here that IT IS not worth the money in any BMW. I haven't tried the Audi one, but a Bose in MB, Porsche, heck even Infinti, has a crisper & richer sound than the joke called B&O. The B&O system you can hear the digitization process of the song with some funny reproduction. I declined it in M5. It isn't worth anything over the standard Pro system unless you really like loud meaningless jebrish with some unrecognisable beats.

BTW you would notice that I never mentioned the Burmester masterpiece in Porsches, coz that is extraterrestrial for the B&O. I am sure in S class, it gonna even beat the one in Panamera/Cayenne. With the enalrged woofer integrated in the firewall, it would be interesting to experience how it reproduce sound.

Burmester: Handmade in Germany:cool:

Klier I know you hate to see me bad mouth BMW brand, but mate, you know am better than actually just spreading negative comments about something without something to back it up. Trust me, I am trying to save you some money if you consider one. Go ahead, try it yourself. It adds nothing over the professional hifi system. Nothing other than "loudness"

Come on don't act like that. I happen to have a friend with this system fitted and I find the sound to be quite spectacular. I simply disagree with the statement, you can badmouth BMW all you want.

I am no audiophile BTW. I know these people can be, uhm......quite.... nitpicky ;) A guy in my appartment building is an audiophile, and a simple audio cable by his standards has to be over $300, with golden wiring and the whole nine yards :D

It might only add loudness (don't think it's just that), but the sound stays crisp and clear unlike the pro hifi where it gets worse when you turn up the volume.

The LED DRL lights on the CLS look very good and sexy, I think. It's bold and when you see it, you know that a Mercedes is coming. BMW's Angel eyes are I think the best in the business. Thats's why Chevy copied it, That's why Range Rover has a form of them, that's why every civic goes aftermarket lights for them. This is just my opinion though.

I also REALLY like the B&O sound system in the Fxx gen BMW's.

I have to say, I've loved watching BMWs evolving 'angel eyes' and I'm really a fan of the new slightly squared off top and bottom.

As for the sound system discussion, I have all B&O at home, their speakers are great, but of course there are other brands that produce a better sound, unfortunately they just don't look as good.
