M3/M4 [Spy Shots] BMW M3 & M4 (G80/G82/G83)

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

And what is worst, not sure how expensive can be to give the G20 a newly designed front bumper for the M3. It's more or less the same as the M Pack...

The 3er indeed deserves its own identity from bare bones base version to M3. It has now become totally absurd and patronizing to keep grafting the M4's front end, as if the 3er wasn't mature enough to deserve its own full M identity like all the other models. BMW has disjointed its sedans and coupés design and nomenclature, and rightly so, now be consistent with it.

One forum member (Sonny325gm) pointed out. Seemed interesting.

Round side intake opening similar to CSL Hommage? Also reminded a bit of E46 M3 CSL round intake.

It certainly gets curiouser.
At the UDE event they talked albeit briefly about the M3 and of course it's three variants on launch offering three different perspectives for enthusiasts.

But looking to the future we have to consider the progress that will be considered such as a CS etc. And then think about the next generation M4.

So they make good on their promise that the M4 would mimic Porsche with various levels of performance.
Its ambitions are stratospheric.

They do say that we learn more about the M3 in the Summer which is just right around the corner.

Summer around the corner? But from the corner of what hemisphere or part of the world are you talking about?
Being this a global forum I would appreciate that you indicate in what month is that summer (y)

Well I am in Germany,Europe. So I was talking from our end of the map.

Considering summer has just ended in the Southern Hemisphere, it's unlikely Scott would then refer to summer as being "just right around the corner" if he was referring to the Southern Hemisphere.

Precisely, it is not a hemispheric issue which I mention ironically because of the breadth it implies, but rather if it could be more specific in terms of dates, since for example in my country the summer ended in February and in the country where I am now ending in April.

It seems to me clearer in this forum, due to the diversity of locations, refer in months instead of seasons, several members do it in seasons of the year and there are countries where summer is called winter because it is the time when it rains

New BMW M4 Rendered, Looks Like The Real Deal

New BMW M4 Rendered, Looks Like The Real Deal

BMW is gearing up to launch the G80 M3, with the go-faster incarnation of the new 3er currently seeing engineers polishing the final details at the Nurburgring - the super-sedan should land by the end of the year. However, the Internet is willing to talk about other speed devils sharing the compact version of the CLAR architecture. For now, we'll focus on the upcoming BMW M4.

The rendering we have here gives us a taste of things to come. And with the pixel play based on the new 3 Series, this seems to be spot on - don't take those taillights too seriously though, as the Audi-like styling cues were probably added on purpose.

With the kind of technology the German automaker is injecting into the current M range, the new M4 should be a rocket.

For one thing, we already know what to expect as far as the firepower is concerned. And that's because the M3/M4 will share the new twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six of the 2019 BMW X3 M and X4 M.

As is the case with the 2020 M3, the (2021?) M4 is expected to be offered in multiple configurations, with power ranging from 450 to over 500 ponies.

Depending on how the company wants to build the M4 range, we should get at least three levels of velocity insanity. And the rumor mill talks about the tech variables including a two-pedal setup, along with an optional manual tranny.

Then there's the number of driven wheels, as an all-paw setup could be offered just like in the case of the F90 M5 (of course, a RWD-only driving mode would also be involved).

In fact, the expectations for the new M3 and M4 are so high that aficioandos even hope these will be more vocal than the cars they replace. And, as I've said in the past, this might be the toughest bet of them all.

I’m struggling to get excited about the M3 because I think the M3 will be a look and great revolution from the predecessor.

Seems like NO carbon drive shaft anymore!
Cost cutting. The explanation for replacing carbon drive shaft with a heavier steel one end of 2017 was "getting space for OPF".
What is now the excuse? They had enough time for designing layout with OPF and the thicker carbon drive shaft ...

The bars inside of the grill are clearly doubles and horizontal, that I had never seen and I do not know if there is historical background..I love experimentation as long as it is correct

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
