I found a old sportauto comparison I wanted to share :)

G. Spyder (520 hp) / SL55 (517 hp)
0-100km/h 4.4 / 4.7
0-200km/h 15.5 / 15.6

Slalom 70,2 km/h / 62,3 km/h
Hockenheim: 1.12,3 min / 1.16,5 min

Brake distance 100- 0km/h: 34 m / 36,9 min

Conclusion: 50 points for Lamborghini and 39 points for SL55

On straightlines the SL55 can keep up with the Gallardo but the Gallardo is the sportcar king here thanks to the low weight and the tires but it doesnt mean the SL55 is a boring car to drive.

If I'm right the SL55 is almost as fast as the McLaren F1 to 300km/h:usa7uh:

Both are fantastic cars but the Gallardo is the right winner, also my choice by far!

Result result in the comparo.

The only thing similar to these 2 cars is their horsepower and removable tops. To me they are in 2 totally different categories. A hyper-performance, rear(mid?)-engined super car vs a front engined GT. I wouldn't expect the SL to have a chance at winning a comparo in a magazine called SportAuto.

Though I can't deny the Gallardo is REALLY growing on me, especially the drop top, I still think the SL is a far more beautiful and practical vehicle.

Yeah these are two totally different cars in mission and purpose, all they have in common is that they are convertibles.

yes they are different but both are sporty cars. If they compared a SL550 to Gallardo this test would be strange but afterall its a AMG, the sportiest SL in similar pricerange as a Gallardo. We seen the M5 been compared to a F430, thats very strange, this test makes more sense.
A comparison like this isnt unique coming from Sportauto. Similar comparisons have happen before, no biggie.

True they're both sporty, but one is a sports car the other is a GT, they excel at different things, not really fair to either IMO.

this test makes more sense than the M5 vs F430 comparison we saw while ago.
Remember this is Sportauto which mean they focus on sport and since this is the closest MB has to offer to a Gallardo spider then Im not surprised to see a comparison like this. To be honest, I see no wrong with this test.

Yeah a M5 and F430 makes no sense either to me, but oh well. I guess these type of test could be interesting to see how different cars stack up against each other, but not to determine what is the "better" car because they serve different pursposes.

SL55/F1
0-200 15.6/9.7
0-300 ???/22.0

i whould take the SL55 over Gallardo only because of practicality.
