Some pics of my other car: A4 1.8T Avant

Here are some pics of the other car in my family, a 2004 A4 1.8T Avant with Quattro and the sport package (17" sport rims and sports suspension with aluminum trim inside). I have always thought the B6 A4 Avant to be one of the best looking wagons ever (of course, I'm biased....:D ). It's quite peppy and handles very well. In fact, it feels more nimble than my C55 (probably because it weighs less). The steering feels lighter than the very heavy steering of the C55 too, although the brakes aren't as good. The ride is definitely less bumpy than the C55, and it's definitely the safer family car, especially in the winter when there is snow. My wife loves the car, and so do I.

Nice, very nice, it's about time you showed us this ride! :D

It looks very well kept, though I must ask, does the 1.8T feel underpowered with Quattro? I only know of FWD versions with that engine.

This is one nice car mate, it has a understaded sportiness look. How do you manage to keep it so clean with no scratches at all?

Thanks for all the compliments!

Nice, same wheel as the S4?

No, the S4 has larger 18" rims with a similar but not identical style. The rims on our A4 are only 17".

Underpowered? Well, it depends what you compare with...:D The tiptronic transmission really is quite responsive to keep to engine revs high to get maximum boost when you press the accelerator. No, I won't win any drag races with cars like the 325i, 330i, C280, C350, A4 2.0T, A4 3.2, etc, etc. The acceleration is quite acceptable and in no way do I feel "slow" on everday roads. The modification potential is huge for this car (being forced induction). A simple ECU flash can easily add 20-30HP, making it on par with the current 2.0T in terms of output. Of course, my wife wants to keep the car bone stock, and so it will remain so.

These pictures were taken a few months ago after a wash and wax. I usually wax my cars just twice per year (once before winter, and once at around spring time). There are scratches, but they are very minor. Trust me with this, a black car is VERY HARD to keep clean and looking new. The slightest dust/dirt/rain will cause very visible marks.

so is the interior materials in A4 better than your C55? :D

haha....I knew someone would bring that up...

It's not a fair comparison really, comparing the top of the line C-AMG car with the bottom of the line A4 (in Canada) from 2004. The Nappa leather with Alcatara inserts on the AMG sport seats is really good stuff and obviously is better than the standard leather seats of the A4. Subjectively, the interior trim of the C55 LOOKS better than the A4, but I think the A4 interior is more "solid", in terms of fit and finish. Both cars are rattle free still.

Here are 2 pics comparing the B6 A4 interior with aluminum trim and the C55 interior. In both of my cars, I don't have navigation, so imagine a standard stereo in its place.

That's good to hear. :usa7uh:

I can relate with you about the black colour. Our Phaeton's all scratched up, because it rains so often and the sun's just out all the time, it's a 'must' to clean the car all the time. And after a while you start to lose your tendencies to take precautions... Then there goes the pristine paintwork.
