This silver one is really nice. The exterior, in general, is imo the most coherent proposal of the new-gen Mercedes line-up. However, I'm worried about the interior and cost cutting. Obviously, many parts 'come from' the A class. And, as I wrote elsewhere, the A class shows massive variance (within not between vehicles!)... In one of the spy shots, for instance, you see the 'basic' A/C panel (thermatic) ... it looks ok but it's still a tactile eyesore. Virtually all A classes in showrooms etc. right now are equipped with it ... maybe thermotronic is not available, yet. Either way, the latter should come as standard in the GLE.

The GLE won't use A-Class components. It's the other way around.

Mercedes have taken the A-Class upmarket by borrowing parts used in more expensive cars. Just because the A-Class launched first, doesn't mean the HVAC controls, steering wheel and light switched were originally intended for it.

I initially thought the A-Class was all about perceived quality with little substance. When I sat in one I was very impressed how solid many parts feels. I have only experienced the HVAC controls with chrome buttons. They were great and I have no issue seeing the same panel of buttons in the GLE.

The front looks awesome with the AMG trim and light silver colour. This cars styling disguises its size very well it looks much smaller than it really is. I think this car could be one of the best looking GLE/ML models ever

I guess you misconstrued my statement.
Of course, parts are developed more or less for the entire line-up. Of course, developed first does not equal delivered first. And, of course, I don't have a problem with A and GLE and various others sharing parts. I meant that you can already predict the quality of various GLE interior components by taking a look at the A class. And yes, as I implied above, the thermotronic is absolutely ok (I guess that is the HVAC you're referring to) in terms of finish. What is not ok, imo, is to offer the much more simple thermatic solution for the GLE, as well (as previous spy pics suggest). So, to sum up: Thermatic and similar parts are appropriate standard equipment for the A but not for the GLE. Vice versa, it's totally acceptable if more premium parts that I consider standard for the GLE are also offered as extras in lower segments.
PS. The light switch you're mentioning has been extremely cheap in all exemplars that I scrutinized recently. It is acceptable in compact class but not in premium mid-size or above, imo.
PPS. Mercedes did not move the A class 'up-market' in a classic sense. They simply HAD to improve certain aspects because customers were not exactly amused about fit, finish, and some stylistic 'workarounds' of the last generation. It is still playing in the same league against the same competitors.

Can you spec the chrome buttons or do they come with higher specs? I didn't previous know that some HVAC buttons in the A-Class could be plain black.

See the two pics I posted above. "Thermatic" comes standard (upper pic) and with black plastic rockers in the middle that feel very cheap, only the outer switches are metallized. "Thermotronic" is an extra (afaik it's never standard in the A class) with the metallized centre rocker buttons.

It's safe to assume that the Termotronic and metallic rockers will be standard in the GLE, no?

With all my statements above, I was referring to this set of pictures. I don't know why but it does not look like it will :/.

Merc needs to change the game with these slow camo teases that last a year or more. The vehicles can be guessed out. It takes away the fresh impact upon release date imo.

Only if you’re addicted to looking at spy pics. Look at Porsche- the 992 has been driving around basically naked for months now.

The problem for me with the X5 is that it looks too much (in the front) like the X1/X3.. a mix of both, actually. Just saw a video on insta of a bunch of them parked alongside each other and I thought for a second “ this one looks like the X1..this one next to it is the X3..oh, wait, they’re all X5s”..pretty retarded i know, and im sure the X5 has more presence on the metal, but the GLEs front is just brutal.

I dont like the D pillar of the GLE, but the GLE coupe might look stunning. Only problem is that the X5s interior is drop dead gorgeous, and im afraid the GLEs wont be able to match it..and im not even talking about A-class switchgear, just from a design standpoint.

This is my order...almost arrived ...god, probably next year will choose this instead of the new E class FL
I hope this is AMG line
Iridium Silver is still a must for me no matter what

Thermotronic will come standard with any new GLE...Thermotronic with 4 zones will come extra

The launch must be just around the corner, cant wait to see this.
