Video Games PS3 European Debut.

Re: PS3 French Debut: A Total Disaster

Didn't know we got more expensive and less capable machines than the Americans and Japanese. This is bullshit! Sony better do something about this!

Re: PS3 French Debut: A Total Disaster

I have a Sony Bravia LCD in my home (32S2010) and i 'm planning to buy a 40W2000 also soon so you can say that i 'm a Sony fan (kind of) but i have to admit that with PS3 Sony blew it big time.

PS3 UK Debut: Record Breaking

Record-breaking 165,000 PS3s sold at UK launch

18:45, Mar 26th 2007 by Neil Long

New format becomes fastest-selling home console ever over its debut weekend.
ChartTrack has confirmed that 165,000 PS3 units were sold during the console's launch weekend.

The figure is three quarters of the total 220,000 UK launch stock for day one, and makes PS3 second only to PSP in the overall launch weekend sales stakes. The Sony handheld shifted 185,000 in its opening weekend back in September 2005.

PS3’s record-breaking debut for a home console comfortably beats the previous top seller Nintendo Wii, which sold 105,000 after its frantic launch weekend in December last year. Fellow format rival Xbox 360 racked up an estimated 70,000 at launch in December 2005.

The figure also means that Sony has not sold all of its opening weekend stock, something the platform holder claims is part of its overall strategy at retail.

Re: PS3 UK Debut: Record Breaking

Finally some good news for Sony. That's quite a record. 60k more than the Wii on opening...but lets see what the long term brings. Sony isn't in this for short term gains, they're in it for the long term haul.

wow wow and wow again
i tried the PS3 at my friends today..and damn that machine is no joke
it oozes quality.. its so silent..and ohh lord does microsoft have alot to learn yet..
take the controller for example..there is no greater controler on earth..it fits like a glove..

anyways im waiting a while before i get mine..there has to be a real good game on the market before i get it.. im waiting for Assasins Creed..wich is on my wanted list..and probably the first on the list to be realeased..:D

I agree with you about everything except the controller Artist. Our controllers already creak and flex. The plastics used feel and look incredibly cheap. They occasionally disconnect from the console. As for the design...
The L2 and R2 buttons have to be among the worst design decisions for a controler, why in the world would they curve them down instead of up to catch your finger? I find my fingers to slip off or cramp up in games such Motorstorm (really any game that you have to hold them down to progress). Are they disposable or what? There is no detachable battery so I guess the Sixaxis is the worlds first disposable controller for consoles (as apposed to Microsofts disposable console :D ). And for now their tilt control is a total gimmick, not one game has used it in a way that is revolutionary or fun.
In my honest opinion the Sixaxis is a step down from the Dual Shock 2.

As for the console itself it obliterates the 360 in quality and reliability (mine broke as well as most of my friends). It also has much much better media playback and I like the fact you can use other formats to save files and such. The fact that the Bluray drive doesn't sound like the XBox's freight train drive is also a plus.
But it still doesn't touch Microsofts online support, and it doesn't seem to be quite the graphical powerhouse Sony was boasting. In fact it looks pretty bad when most if not all 3rd party titles look better on the 360 a system that supposedly isn't "next generation" according to Sony.

I wont argue about the controller because that is a matter of personal choice and the size of your hands. The 3rd party games on the other hand is exactly that. They are 3rd party games, they develop those games first on the 360 and then port it over to the ps3, so of course they're not going to look as good as the 360. In order to get the full effect of the ps3 you have to use the cell's 7 SPUs to to get everything perfect...companies like EA and other big 3rd party developers don't care about that.

They want to push as many games out as possible...in the end they sacrifice quality to achieve massive quantity. Simple. If you really want to compare...compare 1st gen ps3 exclusive game (motorstorm) to 2nd gen exclusive 360 game (Gears of War)...Motorstorm pisses all over gears...hell even Resistance is more than enough for Gears, and these are only 1st gen ps3 games. Wait until, Heavenly Sword and LAIR are released, that's when the true power of the system will start coming to life. :t-cheers:

LOL...The Wii remote is a million times better than that piece of junk called Sixaxis.
Then again, the Wii is so much cooler than the PS3 will ever be anyways, so....

That's true. Apart from the blu ray player the rest of the PS3 has nothing new to offer to the market and the design and size of it is rediculous.
