Rolls-Royce, through its Bespoke program, has created a new 25-car limited edition called the Phantom Black. All of the cars are spoken for already.

As you may have guessed, just about everything on the car is black, but there are a few other changes as well. To begin, the Phantom is drenched in Diamond Black paint, which is then accented by a pair of silver pinstripes that run its length. The 21" wheels feature black trim and the "RR" center caps do spin, remaining upright even when the car is in motion. In back, the tailpipes are now exposed to give the car a more muscular appearance (as if it isn't imposing enough already).

The cabin features black leather, black ash wood surfaces, and a black metal foil instrument panel. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is also upgraded and features a thicker rim. Underhood, the 453-horsepower V12 also gets a gloss black finish on the intake manifolds and a chrome-plated top cover.

In summary, it's the most intimidating Phantom yet. Pricing was not announced, but you know the saying: "If you have to ask..."

Press Release:

INTRODUCING PHANTOM BLACK

6 July 2006, Goodwood

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has hand built 25 Bespoke cars called Phantom Black. These special cars demonstrate the best in Rolls-Royce design, engineering and craftsmanship and emphasise the Phantom's impressive performance and dynamic character.

High lustre metallic Diamond Black paint is used on the body, complemented by twin silver coach lines. 21-inch alloy wheels come fitted with high performance Goodyear run flat tyres and feature unique black detailing and centre caps with RR badges, engineered to stay upright even at speed. At the rear of the Phantom Black, visible tail pipes hint at the car's performance.

Under the bonnet the 6.75 litre V12 engine has been treated to gloss black inlet manifolds, chrome plated top covers and new black Rolls-Royce badges. The near silent motor provides 453bhp, enough to propel the Phantom Black from 0-60mph in just 5.7 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 149mph.

Inside, soft black leather upholstery is edged with Seashell piping. Black ash wood veneers are used throughout and while dark in finish, still allow the natural grain to show through. A silver pinstripe adorns each door capping. The dashboard is finished in special black metal foil with a finely embossed diamond pattern. A slightly thicker rimmed steering wheel adds to the dynamic spirit of the Phantom Black.

Graeme Grieve, Sales and Marketing Director, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said, "Phantom Black uses a number of new Bespoke finishes and materials to create a contemporary car that blends aesthetics and engineering, emphasising the dynamic character of the car."

It looks so glorious in the black theme photos. Perfect car for those who are into them.

Ahhh, why didn't somebody tell me about this earlier before they all sold out ........I would have asked for one for my birthday in April :D

Woah! I love it. Would like to see some interior photos.

All krunk-rich morons take note - this is how you make a bad-ass Phantom.

Are those wheels exclusive to this car? I like how they're agressive, yet still carry themselves in a matter fitting a RR.

EDIT:
I noticed this on the features list: "Nokia 8800 mobile phone"
What's that all about?

Haha, I would have pitched in
There is no car on the road today that has as much presence as this car. Maybe the Veyron, but even then. This is the car that screams "I am better than you in everyway possible"

The phone probably comes with the car Osna. Some of the cars I played with when I was an intern had their own Siemens phone.

The only thing it's missing is a diamond-encrusted Spirit Of Ecstasy. There was one at the NY auto show. I asked the RR rep to snap a pic of it 'cause it was a little too far for me to take a pic, and a security guard standing next to it. He didn't do a good job taking a pic, but it speaks for itself. Oh and it's only $100,000 :D

LOL ...but I do kind of agree ...there is nothing particularly different about this "Special Edition" ...actually I'm getting sick of Rolls-Royce's "Special Editions" ...if they really want to recapture the proud tradition of coachbuilt cars ..then they should create entirely different special-edition body styles for the Phantom (like a coupe for example)...that would be cool.

You know and I know, they have profit margins to make. :D :usa7uh:

I'm interested in seeing how the back looks with the exposed tailpipes. The nicer tailpipes did wonders for the Maybach 57S.

As for special editions, I'm over them, for a car like this. Really, every car should be an edition of its own. If you want this paint, tell them; you want the tailpipes, let them know - for the money, or even for extra, you should be able to get just about whatever you want.

I think this is good move by RR because IMO every car like Phantom and co. should have a special limited version, to make it more exclusive! I'm sure it will sell good!
