G-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W464)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.

I absolutely love this new Stronger than the 1980s limited edition. It looks gorgeous and will sell like hotcakes if Mercedes makes more than 460 units.

The car is as appealing as the trim name is silly. "Very" on both counts.

I know they offered this to make some extra coin, but they should offer a stripped down model like this as part of the regular program. And the name is just goofy, it should have been Edition 1980. Either way they will sell every single one they build.

The name is silly and too long lol. I have a feeling they will build more of these cause the demand will be so high, but they will need to reduce the price, its horrendously high.

They won't ever reduce the price. This is the clearly the most sought after Mercedes right now, the G-Class in general.

It's a really hot product, but I hope Mercedes doesn't or isn't already overproducing them. I seem them every single day now, many of them. I don't think that is a good thing. Is it time for them to cut back on production to save whatever exclusivity it has left? What do some of you rich guys think?

M

Why cut back on production, so car flippers can make easy money of real buyers?
However the dealerships in Germany are saying its sold out for 2 years, so doesn't look overproduced.

Thing is though, they're flipping them already anyways.

The G63 flipping market has gotten much softer despite waitlists - current MY2025 are going for $10k-$20k over MSRP in the second-hand market, compared to 2020-2022 where they were going upwards of $100k over due to waitlist and limited supply. A contributing factor is that 2019-2022 G63s are in abundance in the $130k-$160k range with lower mileage ($110k-$125 for higher mileage), all while not being too different from MY2025.

Urban Automotive, specialists in premium luxury vehicle enhancements, has redefined the latest Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon W465 with two distinct styling packages - the Widetrack and Aero Kit. This marks Urban’s 30th bespoke customisation programme since the company was founded in 2013.

The G-Wagon is a style icon and one of Urban’s most successful models, attracting celebrity customers, such as Marcus Rashford. The evolution of the new Urban G-Wagon Widetrack builds on that success.

Widetrack: in detail

As one of the most exclusive and iconic models in Urban’s line-up, the G-Wagon’s next generation Widetrack styling package adds a bold wide-body design with over 40 bespoke carbon fibre components, all designed and manufactured exclusively in-house.

Developed to deliver a more aggressive and powerful stance to the G-Wagon, the Widetrack reflects Urban’s ‘OEM Plus’ philosophy to elevate the vehicle’s visual impact while staying true to its original design.

“The G-Wagon Widetrack retains the core design language that defines Urban’s identity, while signalling a bold and deliberate evolution. Its silhouette pays homage to the original, yet the refined proportions and newly introduced design cues clearly distinguish it as a next-generation interpretation” comments Simon Dearn, Founder of Urban Automotive.

Key upgrades include flared carbon fibre front and rear arches, a restyled carbon fibre front bumper with honeycomb mesh inserts and carbon fibre front splitter to add robustness and a striking presence to the vehicle’s front end. The ultra-light, vented bullnose bonnet overlay with the official UA badge and carbon fibre light bar completes the front-end redesign.

At the rear the Honeycomb Mesh inserts are mirrored in the restyled bumper with additional carbon fibre diffuser and tow cover.

A special feature are the flat-faced, premium Urban-Vossen UV-7 23-inch alloy wheels which are made by hand in Miami exclusively for the Widetrack.

Aero Kit: in detail

The redefined Aero Kit, a dynamic revision of Urban’s outgoing ‘Soft Kit’ offers a more subtle styling option. Designed for owners seeking a sharper and more elegant appearance without increasing the vehicle’s width, the Aero Kit provides a clean, lightweight design that fits seamlessly with the vehicle’s original lines.

It features the same vented bullnose bonnet overlay, carbon fibre roof light cluster, rear spoiler, and Urban-branded wheel carrier as the Widetrack —offering clients extensive personalisation while maintaining a slimmer profile. Optional upgrades include carbon fibre bumper overriders, wing mirrors, and bumper intake trims.

Masters of Carbon Fibre

All components are designed and manufactured in-house at Urban Automotive’s Milton Keynes facility using premium-grade carbon fibre to deliver lightweight durability, better fuel efficiency, and precision fitment. This hands-on approach ensures consistent quality and exceptional craftsmanship throughout every build.

“Advancements in design methodology have enabled significant improvements in both fit and finish, aligning the Widetrack with a premium OEM-standard aesthetic. This evolution is reflected in the use of elevated materials—including extended carbon fibre detailing, billet aluminium exhaust finishers, and finely engineered mesh elements across the front, rear, and signature bullnose hood attachment” adds Simon.

In addition to enhancing visual appeal, these parts also support long-term value retention — with Urban-equipped G-Wagons achieving, on average, up to 14% higher resale values.

Pricing and availability

The Aero Kit and Widetrack kit are now available to order via Urban Automotive and its international distributor network. Customers can choose between a stock of existing vehicles available from Urban or supply their own car for transformation.

Both styling programmes for the W465 G-Wagon are available across three ICE variants, G63 (4 Litre V8 Turbo), G500 (3 Litre 6 Cylinder Turbo) and G450d (3 Litre 6 Cylinder Turbodiesel), all featuring a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Additionally, Urban offers retrofitting options for earlier G-Wagon models.

TBH the older Car ist ( at least in Europe) the better car.

I’ve got the 463a instead of the 465, I did this deliberately.

Advantages of the newer car: Key less entry, less turbo lag (48V Mildhybrid), MBUX with Touchscreen, leather covered Airbag.

Disadvantages: In Europe less sound, no analog clock, no hidden rear view camera (therefore it becomes dirty all the time), touch steering wheel, the new anti roll system is very troublesome ( the normal suspension hasn’t been changed).

For me, the older car has much more character, that’s why you buy this thing.

If you want a comfy car , get the GLS with the E-ABC, that’s the king of the road. (Yes I compared it to Cullinan, Bentayga und the Range Rover SVA)

The G is not about perfection, or speed ( although the G63 can be properly fast). It’s about the feeling, this car makes fun even If the road is full of speed cameras.

The engine vibrates and you hear it all the time, the steering is surprisingly direct, the live axle kicks you in the back over road imperfections.

Thanks to the very good seats it’s still very comfortable.

Saw this tonite when I passed by the dealer:

MB of Plano? They’re taking an absolute piss on the mark ups with their heavy inventory like it’s 2021. Seems the more south you go, the higher the mark up. In the NYC area, most dealers are selling at MSRP.

The color combination is not my cup tea. Grey looks a bit boring, the white leather is nice, the rims are also mediocre. I personally don’t like the dinamica steering wheel, prefer leather instead.

You can customize almost everything on the G, except a bright headliner, If you want that, you must order beige leather. That’s silly.

Yeah Plano Texas, just north of Dallas. West Plano and Frisco is just nothing but money. I counted 6 of them total 3 in the showroom and 3 outside. Most of them were G63s or G580s.

M

On the G580 you can already get a discount in Europe.

It is not very popular here.

What can go wrong, a flying brick with a small battery.

Hi! My sense was the same as yours based on the supply/demand dynamic but I’m finding nothing near msrp on a 63. Are you able to share a dealer in the tri state where I can get one at list? I am able to pull the trigger in the next couple of days. Any assistance is appreciated, thanks !
