Honestly? Excuse me, but I highly doubt that the KEYLESS GO module is that heavy. In comparison to the 1990 model, so many additions have been made over the years, yet such a system is supposed to be incompatible? It's not as if I'm referring to the 2002 model year update, which was finished only 3 years after KEYLESS GO was patented. In my case, my focus is on the fact that in one volatile situation, not being able to unlock the doors faster put me in fatal danger. After that incident, I found myself driving my other car more often as entry/exit was more rapid. For so many changes made over the years it seems absurd that this would be the most difficult. I had asked my local MB dealers about the lack of the feature and I was told that either "It will be offered next year" or that they had no idea. I have never expected levels of refinement equal to the GL or Range Rover, as that is not what I chose it for. At the same time, a modern convenience that MB brought to the market in the W220 S-Class, would be nice to have 13 years on. The W463 has never been a bare and bones off-roader, but a luxury-performance version of the original, so it isn't outlandish to expect most of the modern luxuries MB offers on lower-end models. With your logic, all of the MY2013 updates are useless and one should be content with the equivalent of a 300GD instead of the current variant. That is like saying the S-Class doesn't need any memory settings for the driver or front passenger as it's for chaffeur-driven passengers. From COMAND to climate-controlled power seats, so many of the features my '09 has are not necessities, but they are present for a reason as they are expected at this level. I simply find it more worthwhile keeping my '09, as the MY2013 changes aren't sufficient enough to warrant the upgrade(nor affordable for me). In that case, I certainly haven't lost any plot. No clue why you think that.
