You are right. It's comeback of the W124 Coupe: Distinctively a Mercedes and unapologetically conservative.

Similar to the new E-Class it will make a bigger impression in person than it does in photos. Mercedes are brave to omit a character line, but the first generation Audi A5 demonstrated that a coupe can look striking with few creases or lines on its sides.

It's not a hair raising design but there will be a CLS that suit those who fancy something more expressive.

For now, the E-Class coupe does what is says on the tin, it's a coupe version of the E-Class.

I'm sure Bruno Sacco would be proud of the purity of design that has returned to Mercedes.

The more I look at it, the more I love it. It reminds me of the pretty Benzes of the late 90's and early 2000's. Very timeless designs.

Love those new air vents ......they should have done those for the S class.
It all looks quite classic , easily the best interior in this segment.

They didn't even bother to change the headlights.

At first I was a little underwhelmed. But after digesting the car, its proportions, increased size and cabin quality I really like it and think it'll look great in person. E50 AMG will be fantastic..

In terms of family similarity, I agree with you ... that is Sacco's cup of tea and even his heritage. When it comes to the concrete designs, I do not think he likes everything about the current generation. First and foremost, it broke with his paradigm of 'vertical affinity'. Purity was not a principle but a fashion back then, and purity today is Wagener's buzzword and claim but not an indisputable truth.
