A mystery Lexus LS prototype has been spotted in Southern Europe sporting a modified front grille and bumper — from Auto Evolution:

The bumper is highly unusual, as it has the F SPORT mesh grille with additional cutouts but the side intakes are unlike either F SPORT or standard models. The extra airflow to the end could indicate a new powertrain — perhaps even the oft-rumored twin-turbo V8.

Front wheel gap is much higher than any previously seen fifth-generation LS, perhaps suggesting all-wheel drive. The hybrid badge has also been taped up.

From the rear, we can see an added spoiler and no exhausts –unsurprising given the hybrid badges. However, the spy photographers made a special point of mentioning that the exhaust was extremely loud, making it quite possible that the hybrid badges are subterfuge.

It would be strange for Lexus to be working on a high-performance LS F before building a LC F coupe, but given the state of this prototype’s camouflage, an LC F could be hiding in plain sight.

What do you think? LS F? Additional LS F SPORT testing? Could the sixth-generation LS be getting a V8 option? Check out all the spy shots at Auto Evolution and let us know in the comments.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Lexus will sell its redesigned LS 500 flagship sedan for around $76,000 for the base model, up from $73,515 on the outgoing model, in a bet that its more aggressive design and enhanced performance will draw brand loyalists who have been waiting for a redo of the four-door as well as newcomers to the brand.

Final pricing on the LS 500 will be released before the car goes on sale in February 2018.

"We do expect to attract people from different brands who may have drifted away," said Brian Bolain, general manager for Lexus marketing.

Lexus LS F Coming To Tokyo With 600 HP?
Lexus-LS-F.webp

Rumors about a Lexus LS F have been floating around for awhile and Toyota Motorsport GmbH even showed off a 641 hp concept several years ago.
Road&Track has discovered a picture of the model on Instagram. Apparently taken from a Japanese magazine, the image shows the high-performance sedan would have an aggressive front fascia with a massive spindle grille that is flanked by large air intakes.

Moving further back, the car has front fender vents and revised side skirts. There also appears to be muscular rear fenders, a reduced ride height, and large alloy wheels.

While it would be easy to dismiss the model as a magazine rendering, the publication notes the RC F was given an early reveal in a similar fashion. The timing is also interesting as reports have suggested Lexus could unveil an LS F or LS F concept at either the Tokyo Motor Show or the North American International Auto Show.

If Lexus is indeed working on an LS F, it could be powered by a new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops around 600 hp (447 kW). The engine is also expected to be used in the LC F.

I've waxed and waned since its debut, but I think if I was in the market, it'd be very high on the list. There's been quite a bit of positivity in these reviews, especially regarding ride quality, steering feel, and engine performance.

Things I don't like:
- Infotainment UI and dated graphics
- Would have preferred the LC's HVAC and radio controls. The green LED indicator for the HVAC control reminds me of the late 80's Toyotas.
- that cheapish passenger airbag icon and the various icons that are in gauge cluster.
-prefer the F Sport gauges over the standard gauges
- Android/CarPlay is not available
- would prefer the shifter from the LC rather than a miniature version of the sad android from Hitchiker's Guide.
- rather portly car
- chrome bits in the rear lights
- I like the slim profile of the headlights, but I wish it wasn't so Zorro-esque.
- wish there were more interior themes for the F Sport besides all black and the garish red leather. I'd prefer some wood trim instead of using aluminum or Iriko glass trim.

I like it and from the review, it's not bad at all. Some reviewer said it is at least as good as 7er. Can't wait for the full review and comparison test.
