Cameras New Lens

In Memoriam
Here is the new lens I got the other day. Canon EF 70-200mm f4L IS. I have not read a review of this lens that did not rave about the IQ and build. It is my first L series lens and now I fully understand why they have the reputation they do. The AF is extremely fast and accurate and the IS (Image Stabilization) is just as quick. IQ is fantastic in sharpness (even at f4.0) and the color rendition is very rich and accurate. I hope I can produce some images worthy of this lens.

The image was shot at f/4.0 and show the excellent bokeh but is not a 100% crop of the RAW. I will post some of those on another thread.

Jack, great news!! Finally upgraded from the 70-300 huh? Are you missing the extra reach? And did you consider the f/2.8 non-IS, considering the negligible price difference? Obviously a lot heavier, unfortunately.

I love my f/4, regrettible it is not IS so is very hard to get a steady shot @ 200mm in lower light. But it produces astounding image quality, I have yet to be disappointed... it puts my 17-85 to shame. I'm sure you will love yours.

I would recommend this as well, it sits on my lens and is great :) unless you have already... B+W 67mm MRC UV Filter Review

Great collection of lenses you have, very jealous!

I have not used it enough to see about the 200-300mm difference, but the lens itself and IQ is so much above the 70-300mm, it really won't matter to me. I did not really consider the f/2.8...yes, the weight is the killer and I don't shoot that much low light stuff anyway. The IS is a god-sent since I just can't hold a camera steady anymore. I wish the 10-22mm had it!

I do not have a 67 filter so will have to look for one. Thanks for the tip... I will check it out.

I am also NevadaJack on the Canon forum.

It looks and feels like a toy but the results are really excellent. For the price it is a steal anywhere.

Happy Birthday and many more!
