Nevada Jack changes color....

Well just got an email from my dealer...when he tried to put the color change into NetStar it indicated not available after February builds. He called the factory to see if there was a new color but they said no and Rabolo Red would be available again starting with June builds. Here is his note to me:

"I called the factory, Barolo(544) is not available on any Alabama production until June."

So I will get the GL in Obsidian Black Metallic and Macadamia Leather.

I wonder sometime how MB stays in business...for 30 years ordering a car from them has always involved delays or non-availability of options. You would think that with todays computer inventories and controls the process would be smooth...but MB makes it a major effort. Just like their MBUSA website...they never can seem to get an update in a timely manner. Oh well, when they finish they build a nice car...:D

Doesn't seem good, the fact that you can't get the colour that you want, it's not exactly amazing technology to paint colours different colours.

Oh well, black is an awesome, if I were getting the GL I'd get it in black, looks good with the right rims. Are there any other options you can't get, or have you got everything you want?

I don't know what the paint problem is...they can't run out of pigment can they? Who knows....

I have ordered everything they have available on the option list...except the RSE, hitch and heated rear seats.

Excuse my ignorance, but is "Rabolo" a darker red?

Either way, Obsidian Black is a very nice colour, congratulations once again

EDIT: I see it is a darker red

I am appeases that you will get it with the Macadamia Leather! It really looks better then the grey one! Nevertheless it is sad, that you can not get your car in red!

That is like the most retarded thing I've heard...Is MB crazy? I can understand why they couldn't have the options but I mean c'mon...how hard is to mix paint?

Anyways, congrats on the new GL regardless. I guess you don't want to wait, huh?

Yes it is almost burgundy...and the metallic finish gave it some nice hightlights.

Thanks Ree...I am sure I can make the black one sparkle in my pics just like the white one...:-)

I agree...how do you run out of paint for four months???

I have plans to do some traveling and June is just too late to get the new car...I should have a build date later this week and I am hoping for April delivery.

To be out of paint for 4 months is just unacceptable. I'm sure they can ask DuPont to give them some...:t-hands:

Anyways, Yeah if you plan on traveling in june then you definitely cannot wait. Now fingers crossed that your build date is asap.

Unacceptable. A complain is due for MB. They can't sell cars this way - does anyone share my opinion that they're too complacent?

Nevertheless, black is also a nice colour for the GL. Remember though to fight for your rights (after all you paid so much). :usa7uh:

I may just send off a missile to MBUSA later today...

Whether they are complacent or just don't give a damn about their customers concerns at this point I don't know. They oviously have great demand for their cars but the inability to meet the demand shows a lacking in management of their production facilities.

Jack, I need to ask this again.

How do you feel about a WHITE GL?

:t-cheers:
The white looks very nice but I need a change from white cars. White is also very common here in SUV's where black is not that common. I guess people feel a black car is not as cool (temp wise) as a white one with all the sun we have. The color selections are very limited and the black seems to look the best...I don't like the Capri Blue or the Verde Brook green. Silver shades do not excite me anymore either like I had on the E320 (Pewter.)

Thanks for the opinion. :t-cheers:

Well, at this point, I can only tell you that I am really jealous and that I (and the rest of us) expect some fantastic pictures soon!
