So a quick write bought the car on friday for those in SA

NMI Dsm umhlangha

Saw the car Friday morning. I always liked a GLE but the GLE 400d is a monster of a suv...

I did a deal in basically 30 mins traded in my A 35 AMG which I used very less thanks to our amaizng potholes in Johannesburg. I had already changed 2 tyres in the last year..

So now I have a GLC 220d and GLE400d oh and my ever reliable 2011 c200 CDI..

Obviously with trade in and paperwork I was at the dealership all day

Drove home straight from Durbam to Johannesburg 600km drive.

What a enjoyable drive..

I dont have air suspension I doubt its needed actually evern with those huge 21 inch wheels the ride is magnificent and the handling for such a huge car is amazing.

I loved the drive it was amazing I drove till 1 pm lol not the smartest choice in SA but I did it...adrenaline rush lol

I am in love...

Its the best car I have owned by far bar maybe my w204 c63 AMG which I miss.

The car is very clean has only 9 50 thousand kilos for 2020 which is very low for our market...

Car was one owner driven has a extended plan

I absolutely love it

My best drive ever

Will share more..

Thenl engine and gearbox combination is a dream ...

The torque is just amazing and free flowing

I also drove also a 300d which is not as much fun.

This is in my opinion I mean the 400d a all in one suv

Comfy sporty and yet elegant

Trust me I am in love lol

Congratulations mate! Smooth and safe travels in that GLE!

Thank you all for the messages absolutely loving the GLE 400d

It’s a lovely Vehicle and I think @Mick Briesgau has same motor on his S class he could say more

I love the engine a brand new one is more than double the price … so with 50 thousand kilos and extra plan it was too good for me to refuse

Lovely choice! Diesel. Whoop whoop! It's one of the few Mercs with an unmistkable interior. How are you finding climbing in and out of it? Does it feel very tall compared with your previous car?

Definitely tall compared to the replacement the A35 lol

Compared to GLC I have still it’s taller and yes definitely use the side step

The one salesman at the dealership told me
The secret to use the side step is if u climbing in on the right put your left foot first and vice versa and actually works very easy with how he showed me…

The car is tall and massive in size compared to the GLC and even massive compared to my dads precise shape GLE..

What really impressed me is that engine and yes the 21 inch this car handles wow I was shocked how it handles I mean zero body roll and it’s a massive car but feels so easy to drive.

Compared to my dads older GLE 350d which is also a smooth motor
This car is better in every every department especially the ease to drive and handle.

My dads old shape is maybe a little more comfy as he has 17 inch wheels I am on 21 inch

But yeah I love this motor can’t stop driving my car lol and I am one of those guys who is a mileage miiser lol

Does t have rear wheel steering or any fancy optional suspension?

Nope its a 2020

No rear steering

No air suspension

Just big 21 inch lol

But rides great and has beautiful feeling on the road

Little bumpy compared to 2016 shoe but I guess it's the 21 inch
