If the automaker is the Jay Leno of the automotive industry, then a Tier 1 supplier, such as Germany's ZF, is its joke writer. ZF supplies a number of technologies to the likes of Audi, BMW, and GM and is the force behind systems without which vehicles like the BMW X6 would suffer the same performance drop late-night TV suffered during the writers' strike.
So in an effort to provide a better understanding of how its products benefit the cars they're found in, ZF rented out Michelin's proving grounds in Laurens, South Carolina, got its hands on a few cars, flew over some German engineers, and put on a show.
