Vs Motor Trend - Comparison: 2009 BMW M5 vs 2009 Cadillac CTS-V

This is kind of weird, all those replies give me a feeling of like I'm on "American Car Zone" huh! :t-crazy2:

Anyone cared, what Cts-V is offering & beating today is what M5 gave us years before... almost a gen! :t-cheers:

Nothing wrong in appreciating a great car, which is what CTS-V is, doesn't matter where it is from. But M5 remains the quintessential sports sedan and the benchmark. Yes, others might better it in it's twilight years, that is progress and will only make the next M5 that much better and sure as hell it will set a new benchmark for others to aim for.

Ever wonder how you can find quote after quote claiming from other manufacturers how car XYZ is going to beat M5, but you will hardly ever find one about the E63 or the XFR or RS6 or whatever.

I actually love that part! It's not easy being a benchmark & holding the same place... decades & generations! :t-cheers:

I think Motor Trend is biased enough to bring M5 with a 6-speed manual transmission for the Caddy to beat it.If they chose SMG the story would be different somehow. In my opinion, M5 was designed with 7-speed GEARING and high revs in mind and that is the philosophy of a 8250RPM high-revolution car. This competition is unfair for me but still with a 6-speed gearbox, M5 did very well against CTS-V.

Motor Trend is equally biased with ZR1 too.In all their comparison tests they praise ZR1 more than what it actually is.In one of their tests they said that ZR1 eats LAMBORGHINIs for breakfast or lunch! however, LP640 is as fast as a ZR1 in a straight line and LP670 simply kills it.
I love ZR1 as a highly praised supercar but it is not as good as MT tries to prove.

But the Americans seems to like the manual one and if that model is the most interesting on that market, they should test that one.

This is a magazine, not a test institute with the puprose of bringing the total and final truth. They test cars based on the demands of the market they operate in, giving opinions based on the local preferences.
