A couple of weeks ago, Mercedes-Benz announced that two-times Formula 1 world champion Mika Hakkinen, would retourn to a racing cockpit for the first time after a four-year hiatus to compete in the International Le Mans Cup final race in Zhuhai, China. The six-hour event will take place next Sunday, November 13, and it will be the first time that the Finn, who has also raced for Mercedes in the DTM, will enter an endurance race.
“This is challenging for me, because I’ve never done it before”, said Hakkinen who will be driving the SLS AMG GT3, which he described as “very different from Formula 1 or DTM cars, but also very easy to drive and very consistent.”
David Coulthard had only good words to say about his former teammate pointing out among other things that a racer “never loses the speed, only the need” to race.

F1 really isn't the same without a Finnish driver on a top team... all I can say is go Mika, go Heikki, and please come back Kimi!

First Michael Schumacher, and not Mika Hakkinen. What's with Mercedes pulling these F1 oldies out of retirement?

I guess they need them to help with development of new teams and cars. Well good luck to Mika, but I'll be cheering the M3 GT2's in the ILMC series finale! :D
