Welcome back ladies and gentlemen; I hope you all had magnificent Father's Day weekend.

To kick things off this morning, DaimlerChrysler has published the first details of how their updated 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been received throughout Europe. Since officially hitting showrooms on June 10th, Mercedes has received approximately 30,000 orders for the latest E-Class, a positive sign for the success of the new model.

According to Dr. Klaus Maier, head of Sales and Marketing at the Mercedes Car Group: “We’re delighted about this promising sales launch. We recognize the very positive expectations of our customers - rightfully so, since the latest generation of the E-Class is simply the best ever.”

In addition to outstanding early sales, the E-Class has also attracted a large number of prospective customers to Mercedes dealerships. Besides the 4,000 test drives that were already conducted over the market launch weekend, an additional 10,000 have already been scheduled for other potential customers.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Excellent Market Start for the New Generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class

  • More than 30,000 orders in Western Europe alone a few days after market launch
  • Unconventional endurance test planned for the new-generation E-Class: Long-distance road trial from Paris to Beijing
Stuttgart, Jun 19, 2006

The new generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class has made an outstanding debut in Europe, as about 30,000 orders have been placed for the luxury limousine within just a few days of its market launch. The new generation E-Class hit European showrooms on June 10, 2006 and will be introduced to all remaining markets in the coming weeks and months.

“We’re delighted about this promising sales launch,” says Dr. Klaus Maier, head of Sales and Marketing at the Mercedes Car Group. “We recognize the very positive expectations of our customers - rightfully so, since the latest generation of the E-Class is simply the best ever.”
The new generation E-Class has attracted large numbers of prospective customers to Mercedes-Benz dealerships and own retail outlets in Germany. Test drives are also very much in demand. Besides the 4,000 test drives that were already conducted during the first market launch weekend, over 10.000 more have already been scheduled for other potential customers.
Around ten million E-Class vehicles delivered to customers around the world
Around ten million customers all over the world have purchased Mercedes-Benz’ upper-range model since 1946. The current, seventh generation of the E Class has also been a great success. Since its market launch in 2002, more than one million E-Class vehicles have been sold, making it the best-selling vehicle in its segment.
Safest automobile in its class
Thanks to its pioneering innovations, the E-Class remains the safest vehicle in its segment. The standard equipment in the sedan and the station wagon models includes the anticipatory PRE-SAFE® system, which automatically activates safety measures for the driver and front passenger should an accident be imminent. The new-generation E-Class is the world’s first automobile to be equipped with optional adaptive headlights that optimally adjust to driving and weather conditions. This Intelligent Light System considerably improves driving safety.
E-Class on the road from Paris to Beijing
On October 21, the new generation of the E-Class will begin a remarkable long-distance journey, when 33 vehicles equipped with the latest diesel technology make their way to Beijing from the Paris Motor Show. Large parts of the tour will follow the route of the first intercontinental auto race in history, which took place 99 years ago, albeit in the opposite direction. The approximately 13,000-kilometer trip, which extends across eight national borders and includes some challenging terrain, will enable the new-generation E-Class to demonstrate not only its engine performance, but also its safe and reliable handling. People who would like to take part in this one-of-a-kind adventure can apply at www.e-class-experience.com, starting this summer.

*More than 30,000 orders for the f/l E-Class just a few days after it`s launch
in western europe alone!

*Since it`s intro in 2002 more than 1,000.000 E-Class cars have been sold making it the most successful vehicle in it`s segment!

Folks, I gotta tell ya. If you combine these sales figures with the new S-Class
I`d say Mercedes-Benz is the most successful car company in the world right now.

The f/l E-Class is just a smashing success alreay! those numbers are staggering!

Which numbers are you talking about. I`d say selling 1,000.000 cars since the E-Class`s intro in 2002
and now 30,000 cars on order in europe alone in the first few days is a huge success!!

The numbers do indeed show!

the numbers show good salesfigures, not that it's the most succesfull carmanufacturor in the world, because it's not. You know why? Because the X5 which is about to be replaced is still kicking buts, the 5 series is doing very well the X3 closely second or first depending on which country, the 3 series is dominating like never before ... The number one car manufacturor in the world in the premiumsegment is BMW. That's what the figures show.

As i told Mercedes cars will be more than BMW's car mostly next year but they looks like to do it by the end of this year.

:t-hihi:

Im not talking about a single country, I`m talking global success!
It`s easy for you to say that MB is "not successful" when in fact thay are.
With the BMW models you mentioned I`d like to see 1 model, that has sold
1,000.000 cars over a 3 year period. You shouldn`t have mentioned the X3 and X5 since thay obviously don`t compete with the E-Class.

I`d believe you then.

I don't know about most successful car company in the world, but it does mean a few things:

1. Mercedes' image is on the mend.
2. The Mercedes-Benz names still has a lot of power behind it, still has a lot of currency.
3. The newly FL E is being given a second chance by some of the very people in some of the markets it previous burned owners in quality. Not many car companies get this chance.

I never said they're NOT succesful, I said they're not the most succesful. You are talking about MB as a brand. You also mentioned the S-class. So is it that abnormal I mention other BMW's besides the 5 series? You didn't say the most succesful model, but brand.

face it, you let your fanboy-nature run wild and made a statement comming straight from your arse. Now accept you were wrong and move on. It might be MB regains the nr 1 spot in the future, be it near or distant. But it's not nr 1 in the present.
