Mercedes-Benz'es 120 years in motorsport celebrated with Goodwood Festival of Speed display
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the perks of being a car lover. Held each year in the late June or early July in the Goodwood estate in West Sussex, England, the event founded by Lord March in 1993 hosts many historic cars and famous drivers racing up the hill, while manufacturers also use it to show new production or concept cars . A great even that every true car enthusiast should attend at least once.
At the same time, one car manufacturer is honored each year, with a massive statue, built by Gerry Judah on the lawn in front of the Goodwood House. This year, Mercedes-Benz'es 120 years in motorsport are celebrated with a 160 ton, 26 meters (85 feet) tall and 90 meters (295 feet) long silver arched sculpture, that proudly displays two historic Mercedes-Benz race-cars. The 1934 Mercedes-Benz W 25 Silver Arrow and a Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Wo4, the former being the company's first V8 racecar that won the 1934 Nürburgring Nordschleife Grand Prix with Manfred von Brauchitsch behind the steering wheel, and the latter being the last V8 F1 car, as Formula One is going V6 this season.
