Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

I wonder if, given the importance MB seems to be giving to this new grille, if they will not redesign the AMG EV front end to sort of have it’s own version of it.

@Serpens do you know if this is the case?

Two different spy pics of new upcoming GLS I came across today and both have different type of headlights. First seems to be close to reality as the trst cars which I saw in Dubai is last May had such a star DRL treatment

AMG isn't getting a shield grille equivalent, but their AMG-specific models are becoming increasingly divergent from the mainstream AMG models.

Great, as long as the most expensive looking AMG models do not look like the cheapest MB models (front light bar between the lights, fake grille with lots of tiny stars…).

We were going to get the same shit front end as with the CLA…

What is the most significant part is that MB seemingly has no grand scheme. No all-encompassing design language, but is still using duct tape to put a design together.

An entire new grille on a seemingly done car shows a lack of trust in what you create as a designer.
Very surprised he told us that about that new grille. I would have kept it a secret.

Terrible, particularly that greenhouse and round fat ass...

Off to the KFC!

I’m actually a bit worried after seeing these spy shots.

They saved the front end design by ditching the CLA-like setup, but the side and rear view looks so rounded and EQ-ish to me. especially from the rear 3/4 it looks awful. Of course the camo is still fooling us but the overall proportions are pretty much identifiable.
My theory is that because the big grille was a last minute decision, they couldn’t change the rest of the design details, and therefore the “egg-like” proportions still remain, and contrast highly with the vertical/stately front end.

The grille pretty much covers the whole face, unlike the GLC. And I’m pretty sure the taillights will look the same, which looks ‘interesting’ to say the least. If only the rear overhangs were longer and the boot was more upright, then it would look really nice.
I just don’t know about this car, yikes.

It has economy car like proportions, but not quite. Anyone know when we’ll see it? I still don’t see the point of this and the CLA EV.

I'm puzzled as well.

I am wondering whether M-B has already lost the exterior design sweepstakes to BMW and Audi. of course projecting this a few years forward. Although little can be concluded at this point, the BMW NA0 i3 sedan appears much more cohesive under its shrinkfoil and the announced new, Concept C design paradigm announced by Audi seems promising.

German automotive media outlets have been reporting that Ola Källenius' fate is DIRECTLY linked with the success or failure of the MB.EA GLC and C-Class vehicles. Should consumer response be tepid from the beginning, he (and perhaps Gorden Wagener as well) are out.

I reckon this C-Class EV will mirror the size of the GLC and be about 4,85m long, which would place it halfway in size between the E-class/EQE (4.95m) and C-class ICE (4.75m) and CLA (4,72m). This closeness in size to the EQE is probably the reason why Mercedes will stop producing the EQE. The rake of the rear window almost matching the boot, in my opinion could indicate the C-class EV to be a liftback in the guise of a rival for the i4 and Audi A5.
