The rear door design is so random. Going halfway into the third side window looks so awkward, I much prefer the current shape over that..
It worked find when BMW did it.

Firstly it's pathetic to bring BMW into this, but MB boys can't seem to help themselves.
Secondly, are you blind? On the BMW the door line is on the C pillar, on the CLA it's randomly in the middle somewhere, which looks disgusting (as does the whole car)
Can you not see the window stopping short of the door line?
Disagree. The rear door design is so random. Going halfway into the third side window looks so awkward, I much prefer the current shape over that..

The regular ICE A class has had its lifespan extended, so no I don't think there will be one on this platform, but who knows. So what exactly are we expecting with this new platform? CLA, CLA SB, GLA and GLB? No A hatchback?

It's modular, so in theory it ls not outside the realm of possibility. Certainly would make sense given it's mixed-mode propulsion
Looking forward for the RWD EV CLA.
It will be a clone no doubt. Smart and MB design are closer than ever. Which make the Smarts look nice but the MBs look cheap. There was some speculation that the upcoming Smart #6 would take the role of the A-Class hatch. But now, it appears that the #6 will be a car the size of the CLA, perhaps even a tad larger. And a liftback sedan/coupe rather than a hatchback.
I don’t remember where I‘ve read it, but the new CLA may be RWD-native Architecture. One that will look like a FWD econobox if based on this new CLA.
Fugly
For EVs yeah. For the ICE versions it will be front wheel drive.I don’t remember where I‘ve read it, but the new CLA may be RWD-native Architecture.
