That's final design even though it does look haphazard. Looks to be the same screen from the CLA spy photos.

The W222 S-class is for sure one of the best ever, it is still modern and stylish with a great interior. The double horizontal screen layout it brought out in 2013 is copied by so many cars now, even the next Audi models will use this, BMW have adapted it, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Opel, the names go on and on. Even the twin spoke steering wheel in a similar form is been used by many new cars.

Do we know who designed that interior?

I wouldn't be surprised, when previous gen ML got facelift/rebranding to GLE, they gave it that hideous screen:

Similar with previous gen CLS facelift:

Yeah, I remember, except this looks worse, because you can see the black plastic support bracket.
But let's wait and see I guess. I'd have thought they'd try and give it the W214 interior.

Honestly , I'd blame W221 for that.

W221 was such a revolution for MB.

But W222 managed to refine that , and make it modern looking. W222 is what I would call a true evolution of a car.

God, I miss the old days...

It will probably look something like this. Making it more in line with the current E-Class. I think it looks much better than the current face.
Instead of bringing the failed EQ style to the ICE side, they do the opposite

Now, I understand that at the time Mercedes quality wasn't the best, but the style was amazing.

And the interiors were wrapped in leather and actual wood trim, instead of vegan leather and fake wood. Not to mention that they had physical buttons instead of giant iPads.

Yeah, Schrempp was an asshole. But credit to the man, some of the best looking 21st century Mercedes were launched when he was the CEO. Besides the C215 was one of the last Mercedes designed under the supervision of Bruno Sacco.

Shrimp, yes he suffered from small dick syndrome, probably had little to do with the design strength of MB IMO. That was all thanks to the leadership of Sacco.

The C215 was designed by Australian designer Peter Arcadipane. Under Sacco, MBs design was revolutionised in the late 90's and early 2000's. The man was a visionary.

When Pfeiffer took over, the man lacked vision completely. The W221 and W212 seemed like knee jerk reactions to what Bangle was doing over at BMW and we had a generation of Mercedes that regressed completely in terms of proportion and design. Pfeiffer also didn't seem to grasp the concepts of Horizontal and Vertical Affinity. It's just as well his tenure at the helm was short lived.

Had 'the stars aligned,' It would have been amazing to see Zetsche, Bernhard and Wagoner in control of MB.
