E-Class W124 Mercedes-Benz W124 turns 30!

The Mercedes-Benz W124 is a range of executive cars made by Daimler-Benz from 1984 to 1997. From 1993, the 124 series was officially marketed as the E-Class. The W124 followed the 123 series from 1984 and was succeeded by the W210 E-Class (saloons, estates, rolling chassis) after 1995, and the C208 CLK-Class (coupés, and cabriolets) in 1997.
This AMG cabrio is a dream car, it looks fantastic.

I don't think even Mercedes has a W124 in better condition. Unbelievable.

Wow that car looks brand new, it is immaculate. What a beautiful car.

This is the SG 65 W124 and it's a twin-turbo V12 700 HP powered W124 with a speedometer that goes all the way to 400 km/h.

The way this goes from 100-200kmph is insane.
What an engine.
I laughed when I saw this car accelerate through the gears, it's blistering. If the autobahn was empty maybe he could have hit 330kmh at least. Just imagine this car on the highway chasing down the latest M5 and E63S. What a car!!

An exceptional car @Rolf Though I must say, I never really liked that two tone leather of those Limited Editions, with that artistry like pattern in the light grey leather. Nevertheless a great car and for this one, with it’s low mileage and pristine condition, a reasonable price.
Thanks for showing.

Mercedes didn't have the production capacity at the time and I guess it would have been too costly to have Porsche build more variants, but a 500CE and 500CE Cabriolet would have been a top 5 of all time Mercedes. Even a regular production 400CE and 400CE Cabriolet would have been a stealth rocket.

I always dreamed of a 500CE or 500CE convertible when I was a kid, those would have been very sought after today and would have been very good rivals for the BMW 850i and Jag XJ12 Convertibles at the time.

Would've been a dream. I've been on the lookout to buy an A124 E36 AMG Cabriolet.
Found one for 80k EUR which I think is way too pricey and wasn't a spec I like either.
There's none on the market right now. Looked for one in the US and nadda.
People say I should import one from Japan but I can't find one over there either and I rather wait for one to pop up in US or EU.
Would appreciate if anyone who sees one for sale and doesn't want it themselves to PM me (I'm after the post-merger one/facelift).
Also on the lookout for the W140 S70 AMG but this one ain't urgent as these can still be found and are more common.

If you want one buy one. The prices are not going down anymore I think, only up. Particularly since the world is going full EV and digital.
True but it was silver and I want anything but silver. Repainting a rare classic is a no go for me.
Black is my top choice for the E36 but I can't afford to be too picky.
I missed an S70 AMG last year and it was white which is exactly what I wanted.
Now waiting for it to be listed again but I think the owner might keep it.
Found a real nice E60 Limited not too long ago but prices are crazy and it only came in sedan form.

I am thoroughly confused with terms like E60 and E36 being a BMW fanboy :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Anyways.....Silver is just slick and sexy AF. Just go for it and you'll learn to love it.
E60 is Affalterbach's version of the legendary W124 E500. It's the closest thing one can get to an AMG-Porsche sedan. Visually almost identical to the E500 with most changes under the hood.
E36 is similar to today's E53/CLE53 AMGs. An inline six tuned by AMG. Sort of an AMG lite.
The C124 and A124 coupe and vert didn't get the full fat AMG treatment just like the C/A213 didn't.

Mercedes, your designs have been all over the place the last decade or so. Why not have your designers give us a modern take on the W124. It would be different, and modern..................................And sell better than the Eq designs.
