The key phrase is "the first of" the unlimted AMG.......meaning there are more coming. Yippie. What next a SL or SLR? Likely the SLR.

This is a car for people with money and think the ordinary SLK55 isnt hardcore enough. A lot of money for a little Roadster but hey there are always people with some money over to spend on a car

Pretty quick but I still don't feel that it is worth paying that much for a folding metal roof.

True, I misread the article, sorry. Then if it doesn't have an article than I really don't see why anyone would by it instead of a GT3.

Yup, I guess this is the start of AMG's mission to bring in some more "hardcore" and "focused" vehicles for track enthusiasts. The price preimium is high, and we don't know how many markets this car will be available in. Somehow, I don't think North America will get this car......surprise me AMG, surpirse me.....

No, I wouldn't. I don't go to the track regularly. I have 2 kids so a 2 seater is not very practical for me right now. Even if I wanted to get a pure "fun" car, I probably would get either the new M Roadster from BMW or Porsche Boxter S.

And I just found out from the AMG Private Lounge that this SLK55 AMG special series will NOT be available in the USA (which likely means no for Canada as well).

I think M156 is the internal Mercedes designation for the new 6.2L V8 from AMG.

And there's even a cheaper car, called the M3 CSL (if you can find one).
And in the USA there's even a thing called the Corvette Z06.
Anyway I love this car, but MB is going crazy with this "be all thing to all people"
philosophy.
Between the ultimate poseur car and the ultimate hardcore car there's a big gap, and MB is probably crazy if they think they can fill 90% + of slots out there.
Anyway, love this car.

Can it give CLK-DTM a match? Maybe, not 100% sure, this SLK has the weight advantage, CLK-DTM the power advantage.

This car is a part of a totally new series which makes it hard to tell how it compares against the rest of the cars in the line up. With the DTM being more than twise as expensive i doubt that this SLK is the better sports car.

Well, an expensive car doesn't mean it's automatically better than a cheaper car.
