S-Class (W223) Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223) Facelift 2024

The Mercedes-Benz W223 is the seventh generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan, produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2020. It replaces the W222 S‑Class which had been produced since 2013.
With the X7, at least BMW provides stitched nappa leather covering the lower door bins when you option full Merino leather. Extended Merino and Sensafin still gets a soft touch plastic lower door, while the X5 gets a soft touch plastic lower door on Sensafin, extended Merino, and Full Merino.

GLE and GLS gets a hard plastic door bin on all leather option, whether it's Artico, leather, exclusive nappa, or even the Manufaktur options

Ok BMW does a little more then, but it's still lipstick. Wrapping an X5 interior in leather doesn't suddenly make it something else. The difference between an X5 and X7 should be like a 5er and 7er.

It’s the issue like with the GLE and GLS, the difference between the X5 and X7 interiors is too small.

I'm not saying it does, but having a G11 with an Individual interior with nearly every possible option, which wraps nearly every surface in Merino leather including the interiors of the door bins (which makes the quite unusable I might add), hand buffed wood veneer finished in the same way in Rolls Royces, etc. it still feels like a 5er with nicer materials rather than a true flagship sedan within the brand, which of course includes other aspects of the vehicle such as the the road isolation, cabin noise, etc, but I don't mind that it's similar to a 5er. I definitely wouldn't call it a direct W222 competitor - the latter is still a much better car in doing what it's supposed to do. Back in the day, I've asked my sales associate whether she's also had complaints of how the G11 is basically a G30 with nicer leather and materials and she got annoyed and said no.

Maybe I'm just really particular and picky, but in my W222 with standard Nappa leather, the overall experience feels much more akin to a flagship sedan experience; everything is just better though out and overall, the cabin feels more 'special' even though materials and build in the 7er (with Individual) are nicer, much better cabin insulation (the 7er which feels like an E in terms of cabin noise), much better typical ride comfort around town (even though I have standard Airmatic on the S vs Executive Drive Pro/Active Comfort Drive with Road Preview on the 7er). With that said, both cars are still a mass produced vehicle and you're never going to get the fit and finish from a Rolls Royce or Bentley.

The 7er vs S experience (even the G70 vs W223) is simlar to how premium economy is like economy plus and closer to that, whereas business is first minus, and there's a noticeable difference.

However, I do agree that the highest end model SUVs should definitely have more of a differentiating interior, both visually and materially.

More than one X7 review compared its ride quality and NVH to S Class and 7 series levels, whereas succinctly determined that GLS failed to meet this standard.

I've heard the opposite from places like SavageGeese, who say that the GLS is better at isolating out NVH and in particular larger impacts through the body.

But I'll be honest, I've not driven either extensively, so relying on second-hand impressions.

What it feels like is subjective. I don't per say disagree, but the interiors of the G30 and G11 only share buttons and UI, they're all different for the rest.

I would like my Benz without Mitsubishi logos on the headlights, thank you.
;)

I’ve driven all of them.

The X7 is supple but still very agile, the GLS is without E-ABC like a ship, with E-ABC it’s the comfiest car but still not as agile as the X7.

Looks good and very plausible given what we have seen under the chamo and in the leaked patent images. What the renders lack most importantly though is the grill detailing we know will be there.

The M177 V8 in the S580 should get a power boost to at least 400kw (544PS) and torque to 800nm to match that of the BMW 760i available in the US.

The 760iXdrive is heavier, so the extra power is needed. 525ps is more than enough for the S580. Its mild-hybrid tech offers an additional 23hp when needed. It will be a fast luxury performance sedan. I am wondering what it is going to sound like. The M177 is a high-performance closed deck engine, and it has some serious bark IRL, whatever it is fitted to. The engineers in the sound department will quiet it due to regulations, but no doubt, you will hear it in the wild.
I am expecting the facelift to come with a host of new luxury features. The gesture self-closing doors from the EQS would be welcome, along with new levels of self-driving autonomy for starters. Whatever the case, Mercedes should be pulling out all stops for the S this time around. The 7er has pulled out a host of the S-Class pre-facelift weaknesses and built upon them. This facelift needs to come back with a new set of cards, ready to play a new game.

I did read where Mercedes said they’re spending more than usual on this facelift.

I think MB is going to ensure this S hits or exeedsmost class benchmarks. It already remains at the front of the pack in some respects.

But the upscale features that the 7 introduced to this class, such as the self closing doors (Maybach models aside) are most welcome and needed considering the price point these vehicles are now at.

The current 7-series is probably the best thing that could have happened for S-class buyers. :ROFLMAO:

what do you mean by agile? i care about comfort
A little bit sportier.

Regarding comfort almost nothing beats the GLS Maybach with the E-ABC.

It’s crazy complicated, but unbelievably smooth. However it doesn’t swing like a ship.
