Mercedes-Benz ConceptFASCINATION

I'm with Hassan on this. While I quite like the front and side profile (nice styling details), I'm very underwhelmed by the Mazda-esque rear.

Yeah, it's the rear end that kills it for me, simply too much Mazda for me. I'm not feeling the blades in the underwhelming front bumper either. The Ocean Drive was a much better executed concept both inside and out.

With you on the blades as well...terrible! Audi and VW have done this much better.

I like it, though in the first head on pic, I thought it was the R class face lift. But the profile is sexy. I also like the back, hopefully the E wagon will inherit it instead of the boxy C class wagon rear end or may be we will see a MB PAS. The car also doesn't look anywhere as boxy as the leaked E class pics.

The car looks pretty good, love the front and the side, the rear end styling is a ok, it reminds me of the back end of the Astra. I reckon this concept will work as a R-class replacement as well, just add another 2 doors and it will be pretty sweet.

I know Marcus and Mohammed lose control of their bodily functions every time I compare a Merc with a Chrysler, but the rear reminds me slightly of the Nassau Concept ....but it is interesting.

LOL ...well no need for that.

As you said above it is an evolution -- particularly of the F500 Concept.

So is anyone upset that the CLK moniker is going the way of the dodo?

E-Class Coupe just sounds weird IMO!? :t-hands:

Will it be an EC?

Remember the CL class was once known as an SEC class (S class coupé)

CAR seems to think the CLK will be renamed the E-Class Coupe:

Mercedes Fascination concept – the new E-class coupe

Take note of the new Mercedes-Benz Fascination concept car, revealed today. This is no mere Merc Paris frippery – it's the first official look at the new 2009 E-class. And, more specifically, the new E-class coupe, as the next CLK will soon be known.

The Fascination concept might be a sporty shooting brake, but you can discount this bodystyle for production, CAR understands. The point of this concept car is to drop hints and tips about next year's new E-class saloon, estate and – the first for several generations – a coupe.

New Mercedes E-class coupe: the lowdown

The CLK will soon be dead, as Mercedes repositions its mid-sized coupe and convertible up a notch. It's amazing the difference three letters of the alphabet can make, but in marketing world the CLK will always be associated with the C-class (with which it shares the oily bits). Funnily enough, calling the new car an E-class coupe automatically moves it up a step. And a price bracket, we suspect...

That's why we should pay attention to the new Fascination concept. This is the first official hint of the new 2009 E-class ahead of its formal debut in January 2009. That snout, with twin oblong healamps astride a simpler grille is exactly how the new E's nose will look.

The three-pointed emblem will only appear on the single-louvre grille on the E-class coupe, not the saloon nor estate. But aft of the A-pillar, the Fascination strays down Concept Boulevard. You can safely ignore the sweptback roofline and rear end of this concept; insiders vow there will be no shooting brake in the product line-up.

So do they MB will change the name from CLK to the E-class coupe and charge people for more money then the E-class even though the current CLK is cheaper than the E?

Is the E-Class Coupe going to be just that or is it going to still be a Merc C class underneath it all. If it isn't it certainly makes me question the relevance of the CLS, and also the need for a real C class coupe. I'm confused! This would certainly cause some trouble considering the current CLK competes with the 3 series and what not. Seems to me that the CLK and the New E class are more in the same than the C. Does that seem correct to everyone else?

The front I like but the rest isnt pretty. Too busy design, luckily its just a Concept.

Well i think with this concept car mercedes just wanted to show how the new e-class front will look like. (just remember the glk-conecept car which was just shown a few days before the official release of the glk)

the other sides of the car looks not really so good designed like the front.

i think this will be the new e-class front, with a few changed details, for example the front bumper.

WOW!
