Vs Mclaren 720s vs 911 GT2RS (AMS)

Vehicle comparisons, matchups, debates, performance battles, and head-to-head discussions.
It is already out, McLaren won both on a track and in the straight line.

Hockenheim GP:
720S: 1:48,2 s (Corsa)
GT2 RS: 1:49,1 s (Cup 2)

0-100 km/h
720S: 2,8 s
GT2 RS: 2,9 s

0-200 km/h
720S: 7,4 s
GT2 RS: 8,4 s

0-300 km/h
720S: 19,2 s
GT2 RS: 23,2 s

Are you serious ?! It won on track ? Can't wait to read what they have to say !

Wow, impressed by the 720S! I guess the GT2 RS didn't use the new 'R' tyres, but still the normal Cup 2 has more grip than the Corsa's.

Here's a quick comparison with previous-AMuS laptimes :)
1:48,2 min - McLaren 720S (Pirelli P Zero Corsa)
1:49,1 min - Porsche 911 GT2 RS (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 N2)
1:50,5 min - Mercedes-AMG GT R (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP)
1:51,7 min - Corvette Z06 Z07-pack (manual, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP)
1:52,9 min - Audi R8 V10 plus (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2)
1:53,9 min - Porsche 911 GT3 (991.1, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2)
1:55,3 min - Honda NSX (Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R)

I am a huge Porsche fan but am glad the 720 won. Its an underrated super car that is borderline a hyper car.

Marks my words, the 720 LT will be near untouchable.

On the short Hockenheim circuit I think the GT2 would have won even with these normal Cup2's. The long straigth of this GP configuration favoured the 720S better acceleration.

Genuinely shocked by that. I thought with the tyres the GT2 RS would have destroyed the 720S on track. I assume the RS used the N2s not the Rs?

Can't wait to get the track data to (over-)analyse it.

In two weeks time, in AMS, comparison test between the two cars. I guess there wont be any surprise for the lap time...
Guess again.:D

Really wondering how the 488 pista will fare against these two(and performante of course)...

I was expecting that McLaren would be faster on straight line but not on the track. What a car. MASTERPIECE. And i think the power of 720s is a little underrated.

Wow the 720S is out of this world. Didn't expect to see it beat the GT2 RS on a track! The performance figures are incredible, gee wiz 19.2sec to 300!!!!

It is interesting how this McLaren killed my interest in Porsche and Ferrari. For me, their status is not what it used to be anymore, it somehow degraded them.

That GT2 RS is as fast in a straight line as a Huracán Performante up to 200... with 700 HP. What has happened to the underrated Porsche horsepower?

The track time though, that's surprising as hell. Thought the GT2 RS would take it even on Cup 2s. Hats off to 720S, that's one impressive feat, especially on a technical circuit like H GP.

I think the reason McLaren doesn't put any stickier tires, because the 720 would shred them/become undriveable due to massive load that is sent through the rear wheels. I guess the car works optimal with Corsas.

No, GT2 RS is much faster than Performante. You are comparing apples (Performante with driver only) and oranges (GT2 RS with 2 persons and full tank). Lets compare times in AMS.

Performante in AMS: 0-100 in 2,7s / 0-200 in 9,2s / 100-200 in 6,5s / 0-300 in 30,2
GT2 RS in AMS: 0-100 in 2,9s / 0-200 in 8,4s / 100-200 in 5,5s / 0-300 in 23,2

Difference in acceleration is quite significant and massive above 200 km/h. But I do agree that the new GT2 RS is not such overkill as 997 GT2 RS used to be in those times.

Anyway, all of these cars (Performante, GT2 RS, 720S) deserve respect and are definitely blast to drive, once you drive them numbers don´t matter.

Fair point, but I don't find those numbers from AMS representative for both cars, especially for the Performante. Same outlet, yes, but were conditions similar? I guess not?
