Audi Says Global Sales Up 8.1 Pct. in November.

Predicts Sale of 900,000 Cars by End of the Year

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Audi AG, the luxury car maker owned by Volkswagen AG, said Thursday that its global sales rose more than 8 percent in November from a year earlier and predicted it would sell some 900,000 cars by the end of the year.

The Ingolstadt-based maker of models including the A3, TT and A6 said it sold 75,250 cars last month. In the first nine months of the year, the company said it sold 833,000 worldwide, up 8.7 percent from the same time last year.

If sales continue on their expected pace, Audi said it expects to sell 900,000 cars by the end of the year.

"Audi is close to achieving a new record result for 2006 as a whole," said Ralph Weyler, the Audi board member responsible for marketing and sales.

"This year, we will sell 900,000 vehicles worldwide," he said.

On Tuesday, Audi said that its chief financial officer Rupert Stadler would take over as chief executive on Jan. 1.

Stadler will replace Martin Winterkorn, who last month was named chief executive of Wolfsburg-based Volkswagen after the announcement that Bernd Pischetsrieder would step down. Audi said Stadler would continue as its CFO.

Audi shares were up 0.2 percent to euro469 ($622.55) in Frankfurt trading.

BMW Group heading for new record year

12/07/2006
Munich. The BMW Group has delivered 1,244,775 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brand automobiles up to the end of November this year. Compared with the corresponding period last year (1,211,121), this is an increase of 33,654 vehicles, or 2.8%. In November 2006, the BMW Group sold 114,321 automobiles, which marks a rise of 0.3% compared with the same month last year (114,007).
Dr Michael Ganal, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for sales and marketing: "This year, in spite of the model changes for the MINI, BMW X5 and BMW 3 Series Coupé, we have set the ambitious goal to achieve a new sales record again. We will meet this goal and thus remain the world's leading supplier of premium automobiles." After all, the models directly affected by the changes represent almost a third of the total sales of the BMW Group.

The new BMW 3 Series Coupé has been on the market since September this year. The new generations of MINI and BMW X5 have been available since November. The availability of these three models will generate a clear increase in sales for the BMW Group in December in comparison with the same month last year.

In absolute terms, Asia as a whole showed the largest increase in sales, by 14,265 to 113,874 units (prev.yr.: 99,609). This represents a 14.3% increase. Within Asia, Mainland China is once again in the lead. The number of automobiles delivered to customers in China rose by 49.4% to 32,274 (prev.yr.: 21,609). In terms of relative sales growth, Russia ends up second. The number of BMW Group deliveries to customers in this country in the year to the end of November 2006 rose by 40.1% to 8,673 automobiles (prev.yr.: 6,191).

By the end of November, BMW brand sales increased by 4.9%
Turning to the BMW brand: For the year to the end of November 2006, 1,070,055 automobiles were delivered worldwide, which is 4.9% higher than the figure for last year (1,020,093). In the month of November itself, 100,834 BMW vehicles were handed over to customers. This is an increase of 2.1% compared with the same month last year (98,743).

New generation of MINI available since 18 November
The production of the second generation of the MINI in the expanded plant in Oxford is in full swing. The new model has been available in European markets since 18 November. Because of the production changeover and building measures to expand capacity, the number of MINI available over the course of the year has been limited. For this reason, sales for the year to the end of November fell by 8.6% to 174,078 vehicles (prev.yr.: 190,408). In November, the month of the model changes, 13,397 MINI (prev.yr.: 15,179) were sold, which is 11.7% less. With the increased availability, the company is expecting a considerable increase in sales of MINI in December.

In the year to the end of November, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars increased the number of vehicles delivered by 3.5% to 642 (prev.yr.: 620). In November,
90 Rolls-Royce Phantoms left the dealerships (prev.yr.: 85/+5.9%).

Mercedes Car Group Sales Increase by Five Percent in November to a Record of 110,800 Vehicles
  • Mercedes-Benz posts best November sales in its history
  • Record sales for the brand with the star in Europe, U.S. and Asia/Pacific in November
Stuttgart, Dec 06, 2006
The Mercedes Car Group performed extremely well worldwide in November 2006, boosting sales by five percent to a record of 110,800 units (November 2005: 105,200). From January through November 2006, worldwide deliveries of Mercedes Benz, Maybach and smart brand cars rose by five percent to an all-time high of 1,147,600 units (January–November 2005: 1,094,500). Last month, the Mercedes-Benz brand increased customer deliveries by nine percent to 101,900 vehicles (November 2005: 93,500), which was higher than any other November in the company’s history. Growth was particularly strong around the world for the E- and S Class models, as well as for the SUV family. During the first 11 months of the year, Mercedes-Benz delivered 1,042,500 passenger cars to customers worldwide (January–November 2005: 961,600), an increase of eight percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the U.S., Mercedes-Benz once again significantly outperformed the market as a whole in November, with deliveries rising by 21 percent to the record level of 22,100 passenger cars. Mercedes-Benz car sales also rose in Western Europe in November, with sales increasing by seven percent to 62,300 vehicles. This positive development was primarily due to the brand’s success in the German market, where passenger car sales increased by as much as 21 percent to 34,100 units. In the Asia/Pacific region, Mercedes-Benz reached the all-time high of 9,900 units.
In November, the smart brand delivered 8,900 vehicles to customers worldwide. For the period from January to November, sales amounted to 105,100 units. In view of the upcoming model changeover of the smart fortwo and the phasing out of the smart forfour, the result was in line with the expectations. Nearly all smart fortwo cars of the first generation are sold out. Deliveries for the second generation of the smart fortwo which was unveiled in November will begin in April 2007. The new model has been met with a very positive reception in the media.

Isn't this the 1st time after a long period that MB outsold BMW?

If so, who'll be the 1st to buy beer for everyone on this board, huh MB boys? ;)

Kudos!:bowdown::usa7uh:

:t-cheers:

It makes only sense. MB has a much bigger model line-up.

Nice nevertheless. Kudos to MB! BMW sales are kinda.....low...(compared to the others)

Nope, BMW has more mass products in the pipe line. This year MB closed the gap a bit, but in the future BMW will break loose more.

^well thats what you think..
as far as i see they have the X5 in the end of the pipe line wich is a big seller..
the 3er is pretty new..
the 5er is in for FL
the 7er doesent push many units..

on the other hand MB has the C class in the pipeline wich moves massive units..

so i dont see anyone braking loose..it will be tight.. thats how i see it

1er 2+1 doors, 2 series, X3 FL, 5er FL, 6er FL, new X5, 3er cabrio.

Both Mercedes and BMW have already enough models if you ask me. The alphabet will soon be over.;) :D

So when will we see Audi A4.5 and A6.5, Yannis? :D

Oh it's coming, haha. It's only a matter of time before Audi expends their lineup as much as Benz and BMW. By that time, they are already well known enough. Case and point, Q7.

You are forgetting 1er which is getting a facelift and an additional (a bit cheaper) 3dr version in 2007!

Also 3er cabrio is to come. Also E70 in Europe and rest of the world. And 2er cabrio. Along with already mentioned 5er facelift. Also N53 direct injection I6 engine will debut. As well as new / updated I4 engines (petrol & diesel).

On the other hand MB has new Mk C-class sedan & wagon to launch. And that's it.

C-class annual sales are about 250k units, while BMW sell 100k of X5, 110k of 1er, and 200k of 5er.

C-class is very important product in MB model line, but not as much as 3er for BMW.

i belive we should compare new modells to new.. and for now it looks like C vs X5..
ohh and isnt the CLK and CLK cabrio up soon?

PS
Dont worry yannis i read that audi is planning to having a 40 car line up..and they are well on their way:D
