F1 Formula 1.2018 New cars and Races.

Karma is a bitch, Max !
Well done Ocon. :eusa_clap
Now Max felt how is feel like.
F1 is better off without Bernie. Under his reign, replays and clips like these would never have been published on YouTube or Instagram because of bla bla bla.......TV rights....bla bla bla.

After having had a bit of time to collect my thoughts on that Verstappen vs. Ocon incident, I've come to the conclusion that Verstappen was WRONG !

He should have immediately visited sister-team Scuderia Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost and ask him to punch Ocon. It would have been the reasonable thing to do .

Bottas and Seb were crap..

I think le lerc unless ordered to will beat Seb in a few races next year.

Seb actually had a technical issue. Bottas is another story, trying to perform his duty as wingman ofcourse.

Drivers are allowed to pass other cars if they have a pace advantage. Is Max going to shove everyone he gets into a collision with?

With Hamilton's historical bad luck at Interlagos, today was destined to be someone else's victory. Why fight someone who's on a different strategy?

It's like getting into an argument with a random guy in a bar/club. Do y...

There in lies the problem. Ocon never had the pace to challenge Max at all and I believe he was just trying to score brownie points with his real employers. Lets not forget that there was still a Constructors to win and the Big boys wanted that Sh$t sown up before the next race.

Max lost a race and a notch added to his belt because of the idiocy of someone else, a freaking back marker being lapped. He had every right to be pissed. Two guys in a bar fight is just a pissing contest so no relevance at all.

Yes Ocon was an idiot who should have been more patience but he didn't teleport himself to Max.

Once on fresher tyres he was lapping faster and closed in. The Red Bull pit board would have seen this on the on the screens and could have told Max "Ocon is coming up behind you, is on fresher tyres and need to unlap himself. Don't fight him".

At the end of the home straight they were side by side and when the collision happened, Ocon's front wing was half way up Max's car. For Ocon's strategy to work he couldn't let himself get stuck behind Max and thus was going to keep fighting until he got passed.

What's more important for Red Bull and Max is to look to the future and consider what you will do in similar situations next year. Do you accept that sometimes other cars are faster, or do you fight tooth and nail for every corner, occasionally DNF because of it and swing 50-70 points towards another title contender?

"Big Picture Focus" is perhaps Lewis Hamiltons' most valuable asset. In this particular aspect, the 2018 F1 WDC could not be reproached. The cleverest driver in the cleverest team on the grid currently. OBSERVE AND LEARN Sebastian/Ferrari & Max/RBR.

The last genuinely fascinating F1 season was in 2012, I believe.

From 2013 through 2016, it was more about RBR (2013)-and then MB-AMG Petronas F1 (although the 2016 Nico/Lewis battle was very entertaining). In 2017 and 2018, the outcomes were much about one at first highly competitive team and its' at first highly competitive top driver dropping the ball repeatedly while the WDC/WCC crowns (highly deserved) went to the far more clever, far more focused team and its' far more clever, far more focused top driver.

My thoughts

Bottas was terrible and he is not deserving to be in that silver Arrows.

Ocon Max the after race incident is just plain silly by Max..

On the track Ocon is on fresh super softs ...Max knows he had the victory why fight Ocon just let him pass and you do your race to victory..

I would say if most of us were in max shoes we would let Ocon pass and concentrate on the biggger picture..

Next year I think Red bull will be very strong and i have a feeling Lelerc will out race Sebany times.

Mercedes will have to wake up I think this year Ferrari had a better car overall that's just my opinion..

Mercedes needs to sort the car out even in Brazil tyre wear was much higher then Red bull ..Power wise Ferrari has better straight line speed .

Mercedes If they want 6 in a row or Lewis wants number 6 need to up the engine and sort out the chassis or tyre wear..

If I could I would replace Ocon for Bottas..I Find Bottas really poor.

Robert Kubica to return to race for Williams!

Robert Kubica: Polish driver to make F1 comeback with Williams in 2019

A couple of snippets from the link above since it probably won't work.

"Kubica and Russian Sergey Sirotkin tested together post-season in Abu Dhabi last November and Sirotkin proved quicker after the team had analysed their performances closely. Added to the fact that the Russian could supply more than twice as much funding for the team, the decision to pick Sirotkin felt to them to be simple.

However, Sirotkin's performances in his debut season have not lived up to expectations, either of the team or his Russian backers, and he had much less money available for 2020.

At the same time, Kubica has continued to impress, running in three free practice sessions before Abu Dhabi, a number of tests and setting quick times in the team's simulator. Added to funding from Poland said to be worth at least 10m euros, the balance has swung in his favour.

Force India driver and Mercedes protege Esteban Ocon was an option but Mercedes were not prepared to release the Frenchman for more than a year, while Williams wanted a driver it could potentially keep for longer."

"In-car footage from Kubica's car in practice sessions this year has made it clear that he is still unable to grip the steering wheel with his right hand.

Kubica explains that he has adapted to what he calls his "limitations" and has discovered that he does not necessarily need to hold the wheel tight with both hands to drive.

"After my accident, I discovered that to do a roundabout in the road car, you don't have to grab the steering wheel, you can use friction to turn.

"F1 is not a road car, but I have been also in school where they give you a bird in the hand and you have to hold it [so] that it doesn't fly away but you cannot hold it too much that it gets scared. This is the way you have to hold the steering wheel.

"Then, that it looks different than 10 years ago and to the others, I know. But the outcome is probably the same or nearly the same."

I can't be happy for him because the Williams is an utter dog of a car right now.
Maybe, but the fact is he's worked hard, twice over, to reach the "pinnacle" of motorsport and getting this opportunity is a good reward for those efforts, so I'm as happy for him as I am any driver that finds themselves in boremula 1. Most drivers don't get a competitive car, and 50% of those that do can't fully leverage it.

Well said. Although I disagree with the "boremula 1"

It’s pretty damn interesting that people still call it boring. I would say this past season and the one before has been thoroughly exciting. Amazing battles, races, f#ck ups , fights , emotions, triumph.
I mean what else do you need ?

But people are stuck in the mindset that it’s not exciting enough since the days of Schumacher, and at this point it’s just like boxing post mike Tyson era.
It’s boring blah blah blah, but in reality the last decade and going forward if you know your boxing it’s been epic. Tremendous to say the least.

Tbh I’ve replaced basketball ( due to gsw) and football ( due to the likes of Real Madrid and juventus) with f1 and boxing.

And yeah I know mb has won the last 5 years, but these last 2 haven’t been a cakewalk, and the one before was exciting due to the dynamic between nico and Lewis.

Seriously excited for 2019
Both in f1 and boxing.
2 “boring” sports :)

Well said. Although I disagree with the "boremula 1"

It's gotten better this year from the little I've seen of it, but I still find it doesn't hold my interest anymore. There's two elements to it for me, is there anyone to cheer on, and is it still exciting if there isn't.... Ideally you'd want both (for me that's BTCC), but one or the other as a minimum (i.e DTM and SuperGT or Aussie V8's respectively for me)... F1 fails on both those counts for me, I don't support anyone and I don't find the racing that exciting, accepting that any race series will have its high points and low points.

If other people enjoy it, then fine, good sportsmanship is paramount but other than that I'm not really bothered by other peoples motivations for watching it. I personally think F1 needs to have a long hard look at what it wants to be, and go back to the drawing board with some of its sporting and technical regs - the technology, pace and amount of money involved has evolved so far from the original spirit, it needs to adapt. I know it'll never happen, and I can understand the objections to it, but I think there's a case to be made for loosening regulations in F1, but introducing a BoP at the same time.

Even though I'm less of a fan of it now than ever, I still place quite a bit of responsibility on F1's shoulders... it is, throughout most of the world, the face of motorsport. If F1 is exciting, it's good for motorsport, if F1 is boring, it's bad for motorsport. There's still countless people I know that will only watch the start and finish of an F1 race, because the bit in the middle is boring, I hear it all the time. I'm fortunate enough that I can sit in my local pub and put on whatever motorsport I want, and inevitably, this leads to comments from the general population about how dull motorsport is*... they're not getting that impression from watching touring cars, or GT racing, or whatever else - because they never get any exposure to that... they're getting that impression from F1 because that's the only one that gets headlines or coverage outside of the motorsport fan community.

*Moto GP seems to be the rare exception.

Seriously excited for 2019
Both in f1 and boxing.

Hypothetical situation... Lewis retires at the end of 2018 to focus on fashion and music, Daimler pull the plug on Mercedes AMG F1 team to save money... would you still be seriously excited for F1 in 2019, genuinely?

Also, I don't follow it, but many of my friends do... the biggest problem with Boxing at the moment seems to be the Pay-per-view business model, that's what's putting them off, not the quality of the fights or fighters.

I'm not sure if it was I who coined the Boremula 1 term, but as a follower of other forms of motorsports, I can say that even though Formula 1 is the most popular form of motorsports, its on track product is in no way as exciting as what can be seen on other racing championships.

Formula 1 has a lower rate of leading exchange and a higher probability of winning the race from the pole position, and in turn, it's easier to predict who is going to win.

There was a number of seasons and races that were exciting and tense (to me at least) such as the final race of the 2007, 2008, and 2012 seasons, the latter was arguably the best season of this decade (a personal opinion), so yes, there are moments where spectators have a good fight, but when the lesser feeder series provide better overtaking and multiple drivers competing for the leader position than the top series, I consider this as a problem.

BTW, I'm not saying this just because I don't consider myself a fan of Mercedes or that Ferrari is in a mess and I try to find excuses. I watch different racing championships so I care for the racing quality as much as I would like to have a team and a brand that I support, even if one of the these elements is missing. Formula 1 was boring and predictable during Ferrari-Schumacher era, even though the combination that I would seek in a racing is there.

Boxing, eh ?

As a fellow fan of the sport (and actually a "practitioner" way back in the early 1970s' "Stone Ages"), I'll allow myself to ask:

Would you personally argue that technically brilliant/clinically effective boxers such as...Sven Ottke (undefeated)...Henry Maske (32/1)...Floyd Mayweather (undefeated and arguably the best weight-class-transcending boxer of all time)...are "less exciting"?

Or how about those masters of "arrogant swagger" such as Chris Eubanks or Prince Naseem ? Or Mohammed Ali as the perfect "swagger/technical brilliance synergy" ?

Or how about those "machines of devastation" such as Mike Tyson...George Forman..or, of course, Rocky Marciano (still considered by many to be the best boxer of all time)?

Yes I would be, I’m very excited towards not only Mercedes, but what will happen with SEB now that’s Charles joins. What happens if Red Bull gets a proper engine. And so on and so forth.
