I was visualising every detail the whole time reading your post and came up with this

Hahaha, is it because with my previous post I am aimlessly wandering and slipping about on a giant sheet of ice? ;)

For your clarification: I was referring to the 812's design :D

Still can't get over that messy rear which Manzoni calls the future.

That polar bear's posterior is unusually angular.

Huracan Performante, the 720S and now this... Thanks to all three of these configurators, slacking off of work never sounded so tempting

It's being a bit fussy now, at least on my end.

The 812 isn't exactly photogenic. I'll have to see it flesh to decide if the design works for me.

When do you think we'll see it in NYC?

Who says that he won't miss that naturally aspirated V12 is a darn liar....What an exhaust note, what a car, what a swansong

I'm no car designer or aero expert, but I think a flying butress à la 599 would've been a nice design touch - the rear 3/4 looks heavy in comparison to the F12.

While imposing , it doesn't look quite as elegant as the F12 did, especially at the back, though I love the side profile

Can't quite put my finger on it... but something little Japanese about the car.

After some thought, 2 possibilities, both probably related -

                    a. The wheel design
                    b. The cuts and creases

Both little reminiscent of Japanese hieroglyphs (which if I remember correctly is also the inspiration behind the Lexus L-Fineness design language?)

Maybe I am making too much of an assumption since he's Japanese (or of Japanese descent, I can't remember which), but ever since the Enzo, which was designed by Pininfarina under Ken Okuyama, Ferrari's have had a more Japanese flair to them. One area that seems more consistently Japanese than Italian since the Enzo are the vertical headlights that emphasize more straight lines versus rounded lines.

Also directional wheels were big among Japanese automakers in the late 80's and 90's, so that's been my point of reference whenever I see that motif in wheel design to this day.

The rear has almost a more robotic, Gundam feel that I feel clashes with the curvaceous-ness of the rest of the car.

I've somewhat grown to like the car especially when viewed from the front 3/4 view, as that seems to show off that Italian sensuality the best. But, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, once I see that rear....

EDIT: one last point...the GTC4 Lusso has a similar themed rear as the 812, but, IMO, it seems to work better on the Lusso versus the 812. At least, the rear is consistent with the harder-edged lines rest of the car with Lusso. Whereas there's some dissonance of the 812's rear to the rest of the car's curvy line.
