Alright guys, here it is my story about the time I ran from the cops. Sorry for being kind of late, it's just that this is a long story and I didn't have enough time to spend on the net, that's why in the past few days my comments have been short.
Well, let's get to the story. It all started out at about 9:30 pm on school night when a bunch of friends decided to go and eat. We all ate and then when we got done my cousin asked me if I could drop him back home. I thought "well he only lives like 2 mins from my house, sure why not", so I told him yes. We got on the highway and we were doing about 72-75mph when I saw these two cars switching lanes real fast and approaching my car really fast in my rearview mirror. I looked at my cousin and he asked "what the hell is going on"...I looked at him and said "the hell do I know, I think some stupid kids are racing." We let it slide up until these two cars changed lanes right behind my car almost hitting me and as they passed me I identified the cars. One was a dodge stratus the other was an EVO VIII.
The stratus I didn't care about but the EVO guy looked at me while he passed me. I thought to myself "let's see how fast this thing(my car) is, I only have like 2 exits to go befor my exit." I looked at my cousin and he looked at me...I was just about to open my mouth when he said "handle your business". As soon as I heard that, I downshifted and took off to catch these two. I cought the Stratus at about 110mph and like 5 seconds but the EVO took like 10 second and I was doing about 127mph. We were on a 3 lane highway with the EVO in the far left lane with a car in front, me in the middle with no cars and a big-rig truck on the right lane. I looked at the EVO guy to say that that was fun and my cousin was throwing up the peace sign. I don't know what got into this guy and he just got right behind me and started flashing his lights. I started thinking whether I should race him 1 on 1 because the EVO is more powerful then my car at 276hp and my m3 was only about 243hp, plus my exit was coming up. Then I just looked at my cousin and he says to me, "Dude, what are you waiting for, let's go!"
I was in 5th gear at the time when I downshifted-revmatched to 4th and then 3rd trying to be as smooth as possible so the EVO doesn't notice. And then I was in 3rd doing about 80 when I stepped on it. Then that car sped to 145, and the EVO was getting smaller and smaller in my rerview-mirror until it almost dissapeared. Then, out of nowhere this pick-up changes lanes on me when I'm doing 140+...suddenly I had to brake and change lanes which brought me down to 110 and the EVO finally cought up and then did a RICER fly-by and started flashing his hazard lights like he won or something. I was looking at him and not paying attention to the road when I suddenly noticed a black and white commarrow and the road and as soon as I passed him I saw the police lights flash. I thought to myself, DAMN!. I started thinking about all the outcomes such as whether I should run or pullover. Then suddenly I remembered the laws of Sacramento. If I get pulled over doing more than 100+ they would take my license away, throw me in jail, take my car away and whole bunch of other stuff. So I thought, "F@#K it, I can get away".
I was already doing about 125 when I passed the cop so I sped up and as soon as I sped up the cop turned of his flashing lights and came after me and the EVO. I think me and the EVO dude had the same exact thinking because we both took off on some exit at the same time. My thinking was that the Camarrow is way faster in a straight line plus it's basically a Corvette Z06 with a camarrow body and handling. And I had a gut feeling that I could outrun him on the streets because of my handling. I took off on Elk Grove Blvd and the cop came right after. The EVO made it through the green light but as soon as I got close it became red but I made that right-hander at about 80mph. The road was only two lanes per side and there was a concrete devider in the middle so I couldn't pass anyone. The EVO was switching lanes like crazy and I thought that to be a little too much so instead I went in between the lanes and everyon gave me way cuz I was flashing my lights really really fast, the cop was still chasing us by the way and he was doing the same exact thing as the EVO. Then I thought to myself, why don't I go into the residential area and park my car at someone's house if I can get far enough from the cop. I missed my first right turn because there was a car in front but I'm glad I missed it because the next day I found out that that road leads straight to Elk Grove Police Department. As soon as I saw the second right turn I sped up and drifted the whole turn about about 80+mph avoiding all the cars. The EVO was dumb enough to go straight and not turn. When I looked back after I turned, I saw the Cop go straight as well after the EVO, so I guess he didn't notice me making that turn or just guessed that that it would be alot easier if he just went straight to catch the other guy rather then try to make fast turns that straight-line car. As soon as the cop passed I didn't stop, I went deep, I meen very deep into the residential area where I noticed a very quiet street with dim lights. So, I parked my car wherever I found parking near a house and me and my cousin took off running. We didn't know where we were running but we just ran. We ran about 8 blocks and hid behind this huge pick-up. My cousin started to freak out and started getting jumpy anytime some car drove by. We started to talk about what would happen if we got cought. We were there for abou 45mins and then decided that it was clear. When I drove back home, I was the best driver in the world. I didn't go past the speed limit, signaled before I turned, let people pass me as they pleased, didn't weave in and out of traffic, a really good driver.
That was one of the scariest times in my life. Still gives me chills when I think about it, especially what would've happened if I hadn't got away. I don't condone this behaviour. Just because you have a fast car doesn't mean you should do Illegal stuff. As spiderman's uncle said "with great power comes great responsibility." I know what I did that night was wrong, I put lots of people in danger that night and I do regret it...except for the part that I found out how good an M3 truly was. That was also the night that I learned to repect and love my M3 so much...I miss that car everyday and can't wait until I have another one. And believe me when I do get another M3, you won't see me doing stupid stuff with it.
Hope you enjoyed my story.
