I love Concept vehicles - especially Japanese ones - which I think are often the most innovative and imaginative. Here is a recent one - please post more.

(from Nissan Press Release) Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today unveiled Pivo, its imaginative electric car concept, in partnership with renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami at the company's Nissan Ginza Gallery in downtown Tokyo.

Pivo, which will be on display at this year's Tokyo Motor Show, features an innovative cabin that revolves 360 degrees, eliminating the need to reverse. Thanks to its compact body, the car is also exceptionally easy to maneuver.

The three-seater car comes with a number of user-friendly technologies, including Nissan's Around View Monitor which reduces blind spots by displaying the outside surroundings on screens mounted on the inside of the car's A-pillars located on either side of the windshield. A dash-mounted infrared (IR) commander allows the driver to operate the navigation and stereo systems with simple finger movements without letting go of the steering wheel.

Pivo is powered by Nissan's compact, high-performance lithium-ion battery and its unique Super Motor, resulting in zero emissions.

The gallery space for the Pivo event, which was designed by Murakami, features a futuristic vegetable garden installation, as well as large balloons and illustrations of "Pivo-chan," a character he designed based on the concept car's inspiring image.

(from Mini Press Release) Exactly 45 years after the launch of the Mini Traveller in September 1960, MINI is presenting the MINI Concept Frankfurt at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show – a design study re-interpreting the philosophy of the little Traveller from Great Britain through a new concept of “Travelling in Style” befitting the beginning of the 21st century.

In its overall look and appearance, this concept car with numerous design features in the meantime acknowledged as genuine icons is typical of MINI all the way. And numerous innovations both inside and outside are equally typical of the brand: Wide-opening doors with parallelogram kinematics characterise this very special car in the same way as its coupé-like look without a B-pillar, the new silver metallic paintwork and exquisite materials within the interior.

You beat me to it rnds...

Whilst I'm not one for concept cars as a rule, I have to say that the Mini Traveller concept is just the berries. :ylsuper: I'd love one in the family.

I did love the Mazda Ibuki too - such purity of line and simplicity of form!

Mitsu's Concept Sportback and now Concept X are really neat as well and look to be a distinct reality given the overwhelming reaction garnered thus far.

The Range Stormer was phwoaar.

But for me, the concept that sticks in my mind the most, that I just have to see reach fruition is this 'coz it's mucking afazing:

Love the looks, and love the idea of a full on supercar at half the price of a Ferrari.

In terms of distinctiveness, you can't beat the Dodge Tomahawk, with a Viper V10 engine. Absolutely crazy! :bangin:

500 bhp (372 kW) @ 5600 rpm (60.4 bhp/liter); 525 lb.-ft. (712 Nm) @ 4200 rpm
10-cylinder 90-degree V-type, liquid-cooled, 505 cubic inches (8277 cc)
356-T6 aluminum alloy block with cast-iron liners, aluminum alloy cylinder heads
Bore x Stroke: 4.03 inches x 3.96 inches (102.4 x 100.6)
0-60 mph: 2.5 seconds (est.)
(Some estimate 1.9)
Top Speed: 300+ mph (est.)

and for one of the most beautiful, I nominate the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione. The first time I saw this in the metal my jaw hit the ground......The car is stunning.

This is one of my favourite concept cars, the CS1!

Also, although Martin mentioned it, he never posted pictures of the Range Rover Stormer concept!

IMO the French are doing some of the most outstanding concepts in recent times. Here is the latest from Peugeot.

The Artist said:
does this car really exist..cause the pics look like PS

PS
Its hot as fire though:D
I was wondering the same thing Artist -- the interior is definitely a computer generated image ..I'm not so sure about all of the exterior pictures though.

You can be sure the exterior images are all computer generated as well. I'd bet money on it, although I don't have any insider info or anything like that.

If you're careful with the surroundings, you can generate reflection maps to make it look more realistic than some CG car 'shopped onto a background.

Btw, I hate the car :D

Imagine if this car were mid-engined, (it certainly appears that way...) how cool would that be? A mid engined superluxaloongeetee. That interior is just the most exciting thing I've seen in terms of previewing future design in an age; it looks so complete and cohesive. A genuine and completely convincing glimpse of interior design for this millenium's second decade.

Pity it's French.

Woah, I love that Peugeot concept. If it comes out, it'll definitely run the race with the CLS or the Rapide as the sexiest 4-door saloon ever.

I wish Saab would build the Aero X ....it is so damn hot. Saab has always had a strangely oxymoronic image of being conservatively eccentric ....this new concept car is stunning and has the potential to attract a whole new legion of Saab fans (including me).
