Now at the immediate threshold of the 2020s', I assume that a good many of us have been pondering what may lie ahead of us over the course of the coming 10 years. And as usual, I find myself relatively clueless. Whatever-I'll venture some rather simple predictions (affixed with the obvious disclaimer):

Institutions such as the EU, UN and NATO will suffer a continuing erosion of integrity and hence significance.

The world will be stuck with Donald Trump until the inauguration of his successor in January 2025.

A global financial crisis will occur, the EU being left most gravely affected.

Electric mobility will progress at a far more rapid rate than perhaps generally anticipated.

I think AI will be the new big thing in the next decade.

Politics i don't give a F about, it is a bigger shit show than ever.

Oh and another given is that the poor will get poorer and rich richer.

I think AI will be the new big thing in the next decade.

Absolutely no argument there.

Perhaps not a bad attitude. Arguably healthier, at least. And I fear that we've seen nothing yet in terms of shit shows.

Oh and another given is that the poor will get poorer and rich richer.

Absolutely no argument there.

...I may add:

A further, irreparable deterioration of the Transatlantic relationship (save perhaps the U.K./England). This will remain the case well after Trumps' successor has been inaugurated.

(*... plus perhaps Poland and the Baltic states.).

And will Germany, (still) the EUs' economic locomotive, evolve into the EUs' biggest liability ?

AI as well as increased installations of 5G networks, internet of things increasing, electric mobilisation, increased infrastructure for alternative energy sources, quantum computing.

I think increased resistance to governments and rioting will also increase in more countries. A Major Global Financial Crisis to occur in 2020/2021, possibly a lot of countries will have sovereign collapses, bank collapses, corporate debt bubbles bursting worldwide, personal debt bubbles bursting (student loans, credit cards, housing, vehicles loans defaults). Pension Funds collapsing and Insurance companies. Millions of people will be jobless, the gap between rich and poor will increase as middle class in most countries over indebted.

Possibly another World War if the trade war escalates.

My main prediction is continual societal decay, and the continual rise of manipulation via evermore advanced algorithms.

Electric car bubble will burst.

It needs to inflate quite a bit more before it will burst. And it will continue to inflate whilst legislation demands it, which it will over the next decade.

What minimal sense of optimism I've had dwindles with the passage of time, and the rate of the dwindling is accelerating. It's about to get real shitty.

An aggravation of the ongoing refugee/migration crisis and the myriad direct consequences of which will transport Greta Thunberg and the F.F.F. movement to a distant back row of Europes' sociopolitical agenda. Cyber-intervention/manipulation will further fan the flames of social division to a degree in which the very existence of a number of European nation states as we now know them may be endangered due to fragmentation. A polarization of crucial alliances in Europe in which some countries will be increassingly orienting themselves towards the east (Russia, China and India), while others will seek to maintain and consolidate the transatlantic alliance with the U.S.

Haha Yeah i didnt know people målade fan på väggen this much around here.

Painting the devil on the wall directly translated from Swedish ( assuming the worst )

What an interesting but depressing thread.

Oh, not all is dismal, I suspect.

Further rapid progress and innovation in the field of medicine, for example. China and the U.S. increasing their already (in all likelihood) unsurpassable leadership in the field of digitalization/artificial intelligence-with India, Japan, Israel, Scandanavian Europe, Ireland, The Netherlands and perhaps even the U.K./England beginning to eventually nip at their heels.

It's all a matter of the observers' vantage point, I reckon.

My proposals for 2020.

Trump derangement syndrome will reach fever pitch especially after he is re-elected in a landslide majority.
AOC will return to being a bartender.
The US democrats will collapse.
And that meme of screaming Noooooo!!! Will be used over and over again to everyone's enjoyment.
TDS and wokeness will still destroy entertainment.

Brexit will fracture the EU especially Germany.
Berlin knows it. That is why some are getting ready to run for the hills with even some building their Freeport.
Being in Berlin watching their faces in front of me as Boris Johnson won a majority in the UK election was glorious.
The pious, conniving political elite in Berlin silenced.

Berlin are highly concerned because post-Britain Brexit will be a magnet for German manufacturing expansion. Many German companies are looking at post-Brexit Britain to expand, even those that do not have a production base in the U.K. Berlin are not happy with BMW,VW and Mercedes-Benz expansion into Eastern Europe where they have chosen countries that bear deep apathy to the EU.
Industry prefers strong conservative bases where the loony left have no official power.

Merkel is a spent force. That is plainly obvious. Although they should become unelectable especially with their restrict the Autobahn speed movement. And environmental impact of high performance cars.
In Berlin we ask what would be the suitable top speed for any motor car in your general opinion?
To understand their thinking. A Porsche with the speed found in a 1400 Golf.
Kraftwerk will be furious.

The Greens are not as better.
With everyone moving to Electric their secret movement is actually wanting to abolish the car and question the need for Germany to have so many auto manufacturers.

Slowly but surely the climate mask continues to slip as does the Water Melons crack open to reveal the red inside.
As for Greta? We might all find we have been trolled as she could be just an Art piece for a new Aphex Twin video.
Can't wait to hear the track "How Dare You?"

BMW will reconfigure the Swindon plant utilised by Honda and build the next generation X1/(Hopefully better looking) Countryman, perhaps with a partner?

Tesla will sell more vehicles than ever but continue to struggle with trying to cope with infrastructure.
Tesla charging stations are already struggling hence the massive queues. But add the new volumes of Model Y which will be huge but also CyberTruck and you end up with a very significant problem.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS will Outclass the new S-Klasse.

Everyone will love the looks of THE 4.

Baby Yoda will still be praised.

I won't have my Cyber Truck in 2020.
But I will have an X5M.

Hilary still won't be president.

Pretty accurate so far. Just missed out on a devastating virus and false Marxist political movements.

Yeah good call...

Anyway...

BMW have just announced they're increasing production at Leipzig for the next Countryman (ICE and Electric). What's your opinion on how this will affect further investment in the UK sites, or the arrangement with VDL? Who's losing out?
