PS: I really, really hope this is not a repost, otherwise i'll be really :angryfire

hmm, I've been told VW/Audi works together with Autobild. I dont see it here though :D

Good result for MB.. but still if you look at that picture you really see that the 2 other are way ahead when it comes to modern styling.. ( wich doesent mean that the C is ugly)..
But its time for change now.. and its coming soon.. :D-- it will be a joy :D

If we don't consider the price, the result are like this:

BMW: 392
Mercedes: 390
Audi: 370

Only 2 points between BMW and Mercedes?
It doesn't look so good for BMW........

Wow thats amazing.. and look at the AUDI it falls down alot if you dont concider the price..

But as always price is an important thing to consider.. especially in this class.. ppl care what the cars cost here.. unlike the S vs 7 vs A8 thingy...

PS
But they should leave the price out of it.. and tell us wich car is the best.. and then its up to the reader/slash buyer to decide if its good enough to pay a certain amount of cash..

Why dont we also skip categories like interior spaces, trunk space, comfort, interior quality, consumption. ;)
Heck skip everything cause in the end it up to the buyer to decide what he thinks is most important when he buys a new car. :usa7uh:

I dont get it, in germany warranties are really bad for bmw compared to Audi and mercedes. What does the others have that is so much better?

Warranties
BMW 6 points, Audi 12 points, MB 13 points

Why, that's just crap.
BMW's 3er is light years ahead of the rest.
Again is this design thing crap again.
Why is it their not using the 320d ?!

Boy these German magazines compare BMW/Mercedes/Audi every week, and with the sheer number models these three have this could go on forever.

Now I have gone through this test and chosen those categories I care about when I buy a car.

And they are
Road performances, Handling, Driving noises, Travelling comfort, Transmission, Engine characteristics, Brakes

Calculating the points:
1. BMW 148 p
2. MB 140 p
3. Audi 133 p

When Im adding other categories I dont care as much as the ones above,
then the result is like this:

Equipment/operability, Safety equipment, Quality/materials, Consumption/environment

Calculating the points:
1. BMW 96 p
2. MB 93 p
3. Audi 86 p

Total score:
1. BMW: 148 + 96 = 244 p
2. MB 140 + 93 = 233 p
3. Audi 133 + 86 = 210 p

I dont care if those categories doesnt intrest others but to me they are important.

Congrats to BMW.

But 11 points between the 1st and the 3rd shows just how close the cars are to eachother.

Yeah, congratulations, but it's very close.

Actually, they need a control model that they know is much more crummy than the rest, to see what depths of scoring they can actually 'achieve'. Otherwise, we don't know what that 11 point difference really means.

However, on face value it would seem the three cars are really all quite similar in terms of scoring.

Do it like me. Choose those categories you think its important when buying a car and then count the points. Then you can see what car suits you the best :) Piece of cake :usa7uh: but of course a testdrive done by yourself is the best way to find out what you prefer.

I was meaning more like, are they automatically awarding 5 points for each car in each category, then the real 'range' is between another 5 points - so that though it seems it's out of a total of 10, it's really sort of a score of 5? For instance, for the brakes, did they get a minimum of 15, then the rest of the scoring is another 15 points, leading to scores of 19, 26 and 23 out of 30? Would an original VW Beetle also score 15, or what is the relative score? I want to find out if the closeness of the scores is really because the cars are so close, or whether it's a product of their scoring scheme. I'm not sure if you get what I mean, but it's sort of an obscure factor anyhow, so never mind.

In any case, the way you've done it is good - I think that's a benefit of giving categorised scores, because for some people cost isn't so much of an issue, etc.

I think I understand what you mean. However, there are no minimum, average or relative score. There are only maximum score, changing from 10 to 80 depending on category.

You don't care that much about the quality/ materials??? :eek2:
You gotta be kidding! This is the first thing you check in a car, and should be the most important when you buy one!

I care about reliability, not the quality on the buttons etc etc. This is 3 germans, all three have great interiors.

To Just_me's list i can only add safety 'cause that's really important thing when i buy a car. Safety means lot to me 'cause i travel a lot (long distances, different countries, different people, different driving, if you get what i mean) and since 2nd child is about to arrive very soon. , another reason to care how safe and reliable the car that i buy is...

For what concernes quality and materials (i talk about interior) i don't care that much as i care for other factors that Just_me mentioned in his post, so... They are important too, for sure, but not like:
Road performances, Handling, Driving noises, Travelling comfort, Transmission, Engine characteristics, Brakes

Add to above safety and that's it. ;)
