Travelling comfort:
At the latest during longer travels over highways and motorways one learns the comfort of sports cars to estimate also. The narrow 911-Gestuehl offers the best seat comfort, paired with sufficient side stop.

The adjustable sport chassis of the SLK is so hard that each still so small unevenness in the bitumen is passed on directly to the passengers.

The best mixture from comfort and sport tuning offers the Porsche with adaptive absorbers (PASM).

Driving Dynamics:
The steering of the AMG does not work as directly and sensitivly as those of the Carrera

Cost/environment:
The Porsche secures itself the clear chapter victory over the basic price - it is approximately 20000 euro more cheaply than the competitors. The Mercedes warranties benefit the SLK, and the pointing man pleases with the most favorable insurance. There are however hardly warranties.

Verdict:
The Porsche wins this comparison. With respectful distance follow 55 AMG Black Series as the next SLK. For what the customer gets required, it is directly too expensive. And the love for the detail is missing in some places. And who adds itself a in such a way extravaganten and sporty SLK, also the possibility would like to have of being able to switch the ESP off. The pointing man pleases with his failed form, his mad engine, the beautiful round instruments and that sends leather Interieur. But missing Airbags, the inharmonious chassis tuning and the high price demand compromises.

Not much than the car is using a BMW engine and BMW gearbox and cheaper insurance than the competition.

I don't know. I fail to see the point of all these classic cars revamped for the 21st century. It might appeal to the enthusiasts but I'll never buy a car like that.

I personally love the thing to bits. It's just a beautiful car, both inside and outside, and harks back to the days when sportscars were designed by pens and paper, rather than wind tunnels and equations. I guess you could call it nostalgia.

And plus, witht the modern mechanicals, it's not hindered by 50 yr old, rusting engines and the reliability of a straw house.

Personally for the money I would like the Black Series to be more extreme. As it is now, the car dont impress me much.

LOL the SLK lost big time and this was against the cheper 911S. Imagine what the GT3 can do to it.

Hail to the Carrera S hehehe. Im surprised the SLK didn't stack up so well against the Porsche, even in areas like comfort and interior. The 997 is a massive step up from the 996 in the little creature comforts department.

It looks really cool inside though, those sport seats and the suede steering wheel looks nice. But it needs a proper 6-speed

The only thing i don't like in SLK's interior in above pic is the shape of the steering wheel... In fact all of the MB's steering wheels look horrible... The one in CLS, in the new S especially...
