Love the new Citroen design language. The Renault Clio is also nice-looking. In contrast the MINI Cooper looks downright boring compared to the two French cars.

Yeah, exactly. The Clubman looks out of sorts in this company. (Actually, it looks out of sorts in any company.)

A JCW Cooper S would be my choice - best power delivery, most sophisticated suspension, best balance, best quality interior and highest overall feel-good-factor.

I also heavily suspect that the JCW will have the best residuals too...

I'm pretty sure you're bang on target regarding residual value.

Come to think of it, the Cooper might be 5 years old, but it still manages to remain "pop" - quite a feat considering the MINI's got an fashion statement image.
