The Rapide Concept that debuted in Aston Martin's corner at the 2006 Detroit auto show is a stunner. It also could mean big business for Aston as a sedan, even one aimed at the über wealthy, is able to interest a far greater number of people than a high-powered sports coupe like the V8 Vantage and V12 Vanquish.

Aston Martin is still committed to getting the Rapide out on the road as fast as possible, with a launch date tentatively set for sometime in 2007. The pic you see here is a new shot taken of the Rapide Concept, not the production version. We'll likely see the production version next year in Detroit at the latest, but for now we'll feast our eyes on Aston's new set of Glamour Shots for the Rapide.

I have a small confession ....I'm not excited at all by this car ....or any Aston for that matter ....I would take a Ferrari or Porsche over an AM any day.

Cheers for the pics, this car may not look hugely aggressive, but it is beautiful!

So has it got the green light?

Before I became a Porsche fan AM was the brand deeply embeded in my heart and therefore I'm suporting this Rapide project. The final car is bound to be sexy.

I wouldn't say I was an Aston fan as such, but I do like their cars!

The Vanquish is the worst car IMO! Once in London Im saw a DB9 parket next to a V8 Vantage, and both cars looked so good, they are the kind of cars you'd drive across Europe, true GT cars!

They'll definitely need to update the Vanquish. The interior isn't up to scratch, and funny bumps of the exterior need to be ironed out. The DB9 and the V8 Vantage look great, but maybe a little too similar.

I think the Rapide will be a homerun success. It's a looker. Problem's with the price. If its priced over the S63, Flying Spur or Quattroporte then it might be a problem.
