    Mercedes GLG (2020): Vorschau

    English notes:
    - Base is the new GLE
    - coming 2020
    - going up against the RR Sport
    - air suspension, three differentials and very good offroad capabilities giving truth to the name G
    - most likely 7 seater
    - 4, 6, 8 cylinder engines from Mercedes
    - Plugin hybrid with 90kWh

If they are making a car based Gelandewagen then why the F are they making the original have independent front solid rear...Stick to the original configuration.

I think its a great move, Mercedes SUVs need a new design philosophy with more appeal. Hence sticking on to G wagon give it a base for its heritage of their legend for the future SUVs. I wish the GLS also hav a similar stance and design philosophy in a more glorified form.

Is there room for a GLE, GLE Coupe and a GLG? The GLE Coupe should be the RR Sport fighter IMO. Then at the bottom you will have the GLA GLB, GLC, GLC Coupe! No wonder they're rumors about the S Coupe/Cabrio and SL becoming one car, they've gone SUV nuts!

If it looks like Scion xB or Toyota FJ in a Hugo Boss suit, it won't stand a chance against the next generation Range Rover Sport, let alone the current generation.

              • Mercedes new nomenclature starts showing its weakness.

If it is based on GLE, its name should be GL-GLE ? Hahaha

I think GLG will be a true successor of GLK, because many people liked the boxy design and it was unique almost as G class, or maybe GLB is successor of GLK?

The GLE is actually based on the E. This means your "GL-GLE" is also based on the E.

They actually don't share a platform (and never have), but I know what you mean. :)
