What? I think it's funny everybody is seeing a different design in it. I think everyone is right.

Or ... the BMW CM is doing an excellent job ... while MB one is actually non-existent.

:t-hands:

Mind the SCOTT project has been active for almost ten years now.

Perhaps investment in SCOTT was much more clever move than eg. making a supercar. :usa7uh: Brand-image wise ...

A bit off topic but relevant to the discussions, but does S.C.O.T.T. stand for something? I always thought it was a name, but maybe it stands for BMWs "project" on internet forums :)

A BMW enthusiast posting this is one thing, but when the boundaries become blurred between an enthusiast and 'creative marketing' it starts to leave a sour taste in my mouth. This sounds just like a press release and not the musings of a BMW fan.

People do not like to be played with or deceived if you like. What 99% of the people on here want is news about future BMW's, how they're going to look, what new technology will be introduced etc. Which you and Scott (whoever Scott is at the time) do nicely. But when you make posts like this I just feel a bit like I am being manipulated.

Do you have to do this in every thread? If you don't like BMW CM then hide their post instead of posting your negative opinion on everything they post.

I'm just sitting here and thinking how DIFFERENT this whole build-up and response to the spy shots of the new 5 compares to what was of the W212 E-Class, which I followed from the very beginning.

The 5'er is met with so much excitement, and even under the disguises, is gaining immediate recognition as a design improvement. It was really wasn't this way with the W212 (it had its fans, but as a whole it was really the other way around). Maybe BMW fans are more enthusiastic and optimistic? Maybe the new 5 is a much better execution than the W212 (that is in fact my opinion)? I dunno, just interesting. M-B fans tend to be more conservative in nature (definitely not all though of course), so it is expected that they'll need a bit of convincing before they hop on the bandwagon.

I dunno, just interesting.

I think BMW fans are definitely more enthusiastic in the online world. They tend to be much more passionate/loyal about their brand than mercedes fans, at least from what I've seen over the years. Even in the real world this seems to be true. You see larger BMW owner meets, more people wearing BMW clothing, etc.

In terms of the response versus the W212, it helps that the F10 5er is obviously a great design even under the current camoflage, so it's not surprising that the response is so great so far.

And so is the motoring press! See my post on Auto Express elswhere in this thread.

Or you could choose to hide my post?

I have an opinion which is valid. You don't have to agree with it.

I saw that. That was quite an endorsement about a car that's not even uncovered yet! Impressive.

Yep, the F10 does look promising. I just fear that the tornado of excitement and anticipation for this car is going to get so high that we are all going to be underwhelmed when it's launched. It could never live upto our expectations. I can see it coming a mile off.

Why not? There is a plethera of the SCOTT/ENI "flowery" marketing stuff in all these threads. Some of there input is very informative, but a lot of it is marketing babble. If you enjoy reading the fluff, that's fine. I agree with Betty though. It gets old for me too.

Ok - enough about BMW Creative Marketing.

We all know what it is and from whence it comes. Like most PR some of it is useful and some of it's a crock. It's up to us as adults to decide what to take out of it and move on with our meaningless internet personality lives... :)

And so is the motoring press! See my post on Auto Express elswhere in this thread.

That is the power of fantasies my friend. Any covered car can virtually be as beautiful as you like it to be depending on your hopes and what you picture it to be in the head. What Auto Express said means very little because they have not seen the car. This is the case with many other cars that have been in the stages of testing -- Similar to how a teaser shot of the car in black always makes a car seem promising.

Regardless of that, the shape is good and it's all down to the details now. If the front end is indeed the car depicted in the photograph below, then I'm sold.

I wonder the same as EnI, Will we see the 326 hp I6 on the F10?. This engine is on the F01 with the name of 740i, and the 735i has 306 hp, so my doubt is that. Maybe we will see a 540i, or a 535i M Sport Pack.

535i GT is an indicator ... N55 engine with 306HP. :usa7uh:

And I guess - like in X6 case - 535i sedan M-sport pack with power upgrade (326HP).

While 326HP in 740i will be standard ... And I'm hearing there will be 640i & 640d instead of 635i & 635d as well.

While eg. 535d & 335d etc will get lesser power boost (eg. 292HP ... up from 286HP, and more torque).

Time will tell ...

Perfect, as always EnI, thanks. I think is not too coherent, well, it´s been a time since the last time we asked for a 5er, but our E39 had the same top engines as the E38.

And the M5? Just_Me told a few days ago it was rumored to have 530-540 hp, meanning that it will use the same 4.4 TT V8 engine from the M SUVs, so EnI Is this true, or accurate?.

Today I have a free day so looking BMW pics I´ve realised how similar are the front lights to the X6 ones, and that the rear lights could have some resemblance from both pre-FL and FL E90 rear ones.

The N55 is rumored to output 360 hp....:)
